I'm wondering about the demographics here on facepunch. Quite a few people are involved in long term game development projects. Are these just personal projects or do you really want to get a job in game dev?
I would love to join into a server and then everyone gets an achievement for that...And then after years make that achievement a jewel that only a minority could get and nobody else would be able to get...
Oh wait...
My all time dream job has been to become a Game Developer, preferably PC games. But Australia isn't a very good place to be one (It has plenty of courses for it though, through University/TAFE), my best option is probably Half-Brick, but they mostly do mobile.
Graphics Engine Programmer/Graphics Engineer
[editline]4th November 2015[/editline]
Preferably in a real-time application
Full stack web developer, I didn't realise FP had a programming section. It's been to long.
Does CS related count for Counter-Strike?
Although looking more realistically, most likely game dev.
I work in finance by day, but I'm trying very hard to get into game design in my spare time.
I'd like to work in game dev, but not if I have zero creative/design input.
If I could make my way into gamedev / game design, that'd be a lifelong dream coming true.
Scientist, but sadly I am game developer and currently going to math college :v:
I always looked for an outlet for my creativity, but I was never very artistic. When I started to grasp programming it opened a new realm for me.
I've always heard to choose a career you love, so it's destine to be the field I pursue. Not necessarily a 'game dev,' but certainly to be involved with software.
I'm planning on going into the software dev field, and from there creating an app like my cousin did with Instagram, so I can be well known.

Your cousin made Instagram?

Cousin and Instagram, proof :D?
my dad works at nintendo
I want to help science in the field of physics/particle physics/astrophysics as a software engineer, because that's where the cool stuff is at.
But currently i'm making VR games for medicine and doing CE.

He's on my father's side. No pictures with the guy sadly, he's my second cousin.

I'm a game programmer. I originally did not want to take the job because it's a small independent gig and I had a solid 9 to 5, but after I've been there about a year, I can't recommend it enough. Even if the company goes under, the experience is unlike anything else and the knowledge gained far surpasses that of college or a "traditional" programming job.
I just want to work in IT. I don't like my current job. I hope I can learn to math in time for my first semester of college 2 months away.
If I could choose anything, then I would be a Game Programmer for Bethesda Game Studio.
I want to design/build robots professionally.
Game Dev is mostly a hobby while I work though engineering school
I want to be a game developer and do crazy things with procedural generation. Making games has been my dream ever since I was 9 years old (I'm 21 now).
I've always loved creating things to make people laugh, and video games were a huge part of my life as a teenager during what was otherwise a terrible 7 years. Games really can change lives. If something I made improved someone's day, I would be quite happy.
I'm already programming AAA games for a living. It rocks.

what company is that?
Game dev specializing in virtual reality. Nearly done graduating and I've already got some freelance work on my plate that involves an Oculus Rift. So far, so good.
Programming in general, leaning towards game dev because it's fun.

Given his flag thing my guess would be EA/Dice

Could be Avalanche and Starbreeze as well. We have a lot of them over here.
