Okay so that last thread was satire. In this thread, talk about ideas you've had for games, apps, websites, etc. that seem either out of your skill range or too much work to justify actually doing. I'll start: --- There's a visual novel called Hate Plus (sequel to Analogue: a Hate Story) in which you're an archaeologist trying to find out what happened to this ship in which everyone died, by going through all the email records of the ship and piecing it together. I thought a neat spin on the story telling mechanic would be that instead of an archaeologist, you're an NSA contractor. You're trying to prevent a terrorist attack by going through people's gmail accounts, and you need to prioritize which of several people you need to target. You can only read x emails per day (because they're encrypted and require super computer time to decrypt), so you need to figure out which person you should follow and have arrested before they commit an attack. --- I also wanted to make a VN in which you're the president and you need to fix all these foreign policy crises. I think the mechanic would be similar to Long Live the Queen.
I had an idea for a visual narrative/walking sim where you're a federal IT employee who's picked to go to this disaster recovery site way out in the woods for an audit, but while you're out there the power goes out due to a series of targeted nuclear attacks, and you have to ensure DR stuff works and then people in charge will come pick you up and take you to a shelter. Main tasks would be passed to you via a particular character via radio, you'd have to go and fix a small hydrokinetic turbine to make sure power stays on, replace connectors/cables/server equipment, do computer mini-games that would simulate running commands/testing and troubleshooting connections, sleep, eat, drink water, find ways through different parts of the facility that are sealed so you can avoid nuclear contamination, etc. But part-way through the story, your location would come under direct enemy soldier infiltration, and so you'd have to run from/sneak past/seal yourself off from enemy soldiers, as you don't have any formal combat training. The game would be kinda like roleplaying Firewatch as an IT guy. I got the idea after watching 10 Cloverfield Lane, I really liked how they had the whole movie in this one particular confined area, and used that closeness to convey tension without boring the audience with the repetitive setting.
A business kind of like uber, except with unique artsy and decorated cars. You would call it: Fab-Cab
Two words: Minecraft Katamari
I'd love to make a card game in unity for mobile. I dont think it's out of my skill level necessarily, I just don't have the time. I think the hardest part for me is the graphics and learning unity in itself.
Rewrite Cydia from the ground up so it's not a pile of spaghetti code, finish writing Cycript in LuaJIT, create a actually decent social networking platform for the jailbreak community instead of the cancer that is /r/jailbreak, figure out a way to get a permanent bootrom-esque exploit for the iPhone through hardware and modifying the NAND directly (instead of relying on Pangu), hack into Apple's git servers and anonymously leak the source code to iOS, make an exact copy of SSBM but in a LuaJIT engine running on a Raspberry pi complete with automated tournament organizing and p2p communication with other setups
A Diablo-style hack'n'slash, but with cutesy anime graphics. Kinda like the source of my avatar, though not necessarily as an MMO.
Tf2 styled game but all classes are memes example harambe = melee class gaben = close combat (shoots sales)
