• How to perform model hacks in XSI 7.5

Right, I'm new to the whole modeling thing still so before I actually start making player models and such from scratch I figured I would do some simple little hacks for myself first. So I was wondering if anyone had any tutorials or could tell me how to do it because I've searched around on FP as well as google and haven't really found anything that would help me with a model hack. So if anyone could lend me a hand, thanks.
Howcome no-one can ever find this @.@ http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=534654 I'm sure there was some sort of XSI version but I have no idea when it was or if it was ^^

When I try the first step of the tutorial and open up Studio compiler, I get this message and then it shuts down. :s Anyway to fix that?
refresh your sdk content, if that doesn't work you probably have to reinstall steam.
Alright will do, thanks.

sorry i misread, thanks for helping him silver. Normally those "missing .dll" messages just mean you need to reinstall. but that's for studiomdl.exe.
Heh, new problem now. I can't get XSI 7.5 to open the .SMD, keeps saying it's the wrong file type, do I need to get a plugin for it to open .SMDs?
sorry i misread, thanks for helping him silver. Normally those "missing .dll" messages just mean you need to reinstall. but that's for studiomdl.exe.
I try when I can ^^ And usually the same thing works for studiomdl if its getting those errors, or reaquiring the dlls as you say (though I have to do it maually from backup validating doesn't do anything). I found it and it said it was successfully installed, I then restarted XSI, and tried to open my SMDs again. Still wouldn't open, do I have to enable the addon somehow?

If i remember correctly XSI's smd importer and exporter does not work Programs i know can export smd's: blender 3ds max milkshape And there is this 'obj2smd.exe' that works, but it flips your model around and only allows one texture. You can find it here: http://blog.gneu.org/software-releases/obj-2-smd-converter/ Edit: sorry i forgot you need to import, the programs should import but i don't think the 'obj2smd' can eat smd's and throw out obj's.
Right now I'm just trying a copy of XSI 6 because on the SDK wiki it says the plugin they give you with SDK will work in XSI 6, but not 7.5. So if this doesn't work, then I'll just try out some of the other programs you listed Naelstrom and see what happens from there. Edit: Nah, Didn't Work. Gonna try out those programs you threw up there Nael, thankya. ^^
if anything use blender ^^ works great or 3D max there sorta the same thing
If i remember correctly XSI's smd importer and exporter does not work
It works fine.
