The first one to tell me, as precisely as possible, the real-life location and name that can be seen on the sign wins a cookie made of the finest tubes that the internet is so inherently made of.

This model will serve as the entrance to a map I'm working on that will probably be composed almost exclusively of custom models and textures. As soon as someone posts the answer, I'll put up the textured version.
I dunno what it is, but it looks high poly
'Welcome to FPS Rape Town'?
Is it hint time yet?
Edit:
Hint: It's a section of a theme park
That looks extremely familiar. Hm.
Not Flamingo Land is it?
Not Flamingo Land is it?
You've got the "land" part right
Disney Land? Its gotta be somewhere like that because i'm sure i've walked under it (or something similar).
I'm swaying towards this kinda place: http://albums.mouseplanet.com/WDWMKFrontierlandProcessed/frontierland_marquee_bennett1.jpg (found on google images, the sign says Frontierland its just very dark)
If its not i'm not sure.
DisneyWorld in Flordia, the Magic Kingdom, and the sign says:
Adventure land!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wheres that?
Its in the Magic Kingdom in DisneyWorld (Flordia)
I think they have a different sign in DisneyLand (California)
I just happened to have my vacation pics right next to me.
^.^

DING DING DING! Yup that's right!
Silver Spirit, Adventureland is one of seven sections that the Magic Kingdom in Disney world can be divided into.
So Gaybacon *giggle* what's your map going to be about that you're giong to use the model in?
Its the sign in Flordia right?
Is there one in Disneyland Paris?
Edit: thats pritty dam accurate good job, you gonna put the textured version up?
I didn't even know there was a Disneyland in Paris, but I've been to both World and Land in the USA.

I'm going to try to recreate the Magic Kingdom in source, creating a map for each of its "lands." I simply chose to start with Adventureland.

Comparison
I already have loads of high-quality ride audio, background music, and such as well as several high res pictures for textures.
Sounds cool, keep us posted on your progress :)
Sweet! Let me know when you're done!
I could also help you by testing or comparing some renders with some pics I have if you want.

Since you figured out what it was, sure.

My suggestion, don't use source. You clearly have some skills, don't let source hold you back.
You could try UT3 as an alternative, theres lots of things based on that engine, also i'm sure I heard its good for machinima and stuff.

Why not use source? From my experience the source engine is easier to mod and has a lot more options.
But I'm new to this and I've only been mapping for about a month myself.

You know what you could do with this? L4D CAMPAIGN :P I think it would work nicely.

What would you suggest that would allow me to simulate the motion for the rides?

Oh dear, you sick sick person. I'm not gonna lie though, that WOULD be cool.
L4d Disney Land?!?! I just might have to buy the PC version of L4D to play that! If you were going to make it, but that would be harder than what you're already doing.

Be better off waiting for L4D2 though as then there could be special infected especially for the level (if you've read the latest news about it) such as zombie mascots (if we're gonna be sick we may aswell do it properly :P).

Good Point. New special infected? Could you send me a link? The only new one i know about is the Mini-tank (forget its name).

Edit: http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/100/1005975p1.html there you go.
I HAD started on the Haunted mansion alone previously and I finished the building too.

Sadly however, and much to my dismay, I found that a Haunted Mansion map had already been done (Although the result was far from the love and Care I would have put into mine)
This was also my first model so I let Blender produce UV coordinates for me. After countless hours, this was the result...
