Hey, just a question:
I made a prop, a briefcase. It has no bones or anything, just two different objects (two halves of briefcase), I animated them to open/close but they don't animate in game.
Do I need to create two bones and attach each moving half to bones and just animate bones instead of objects themselves?
Also can bones be seperate (not joined together) ?
The two halves need to be rigged to the two bones, and yes it's better to have them connected.

I am using 3ds max 2012 and it's skin modifier is fucked up.
Fucked up how so?
If youre using source/hammer and the player doesnt pick up the object. Just use use two func_door_rotating. Parent each side of the case to each door.
