I'm basically doing a quick picture of a Kingdom Hearts-ish scene for a friend of mine. Nothing fancy, but I was wondering if anyone could get rid of the sword in this model's hand, or if it's even practical to do so. I don't know why but it just bothers me, and I'd like to include the model (minus the sword) in the scene. If not, no big worry, but it'd help.
Here's the model I'm talking about:

If the sword has a separate texture you could add $nodraw 1 to the VMT which would make it invisible.
So with the sword having a separate texture, there wouldn't be a hole left in the hand would there?
I think it does have a separate texture because it looks like there's the barest of spaces between the handle and his hand. How would I do that?

Find a modeling program, decompile the Leon/Squall model, and delete the gunblade polygon by polygon.

Either that or he could try the Bodygroup changer STool and see if that works...

I tried that before, its permanently grafted to the model.

Not sure I wanna go through all that trouble...although I did download Blender a few months back and tried playing around in it. Haven't read up on it but aren't there importing/exporting issues with getting HL2 models in/out of Blender?

I went through a number of combinations with that tool (not all of them though) and I'm pretty sure the model's not set up for them. It was a nice idea though...

Blender 2.4 is rather finicky with Source. I've been trying out 2.5, though, which is a lot easier to deal with.
