I cant assign the boomer's Vtf, or the converted PNG to him, i try and i try everything i know but it doesnt do anything I can change the color of him, but not assign any bitmaps Someone help me please? Also 3DS Max 2010
You don't need 3ds max to reskin something. Just change texture. Also the L4D2 uses a system that mixes different maps and produces different colors and textures. Which generates basically whole army of different boomers.
No no no, i meant to drag the texture ONTO the boomer model, so he isnt gray, It wont let me :(
Make the window smaller (So it's not maximized) then open Max and drag the PNG onto the boomer. The VTF won't work unless you have the plugin for it, if I'm correct.
I tried PNG and VTF, hell i tried BMP, Doesnt seem to work
There's a blue and white checkered cube icon in the material editor under the preview windows. Press that. Unless it won't let you apply anything to it which is caused by something-a-rather.
the assign to object? yeah i tried that
Select it. Hit "Unwrap UVW." Profit.
Dont see it anywhere, like at all
Wat. Oh. Make sure it's an editable poly (select everything > right click > convert to > editable poly). Then go to the 2nd tab and it should be in the drop-down menu.
the assign to object? yeah i tried that
Not assign to object. Its a box that you click on the materials window that makes the materials viewable in the real time render window. Try rendering the image (press F9) and see if you see the materials now.
1. Click-drag the material onto the Boomer. 2. Click the button highlighted in red.
This is what i get when i try to drag it on to him, that becomes my cursor
Wat! That means the texture can't be applied because there is absolutely no mapping applied to the model.
Now im confused Why must taking zoey's sleeves off be so hard T_T
Like I said. Select the part. On the right side of the screen, go to the 2nd tab. In the drop-down menu, there should be a selection called "Unwrap UVW." Click that, then drag the texture on like normal. You may have to fiddle with the map a bit.
