What is the best Source Modelling Software. It needs to be easy to use and under £100.
Blender
For Source? Not sure. Overall I would say the best modeling software on the market is Mudbox.
Blender
I'm waiting for the 2.5 Release, then I'll try it out.

Source, Cryengine or Unreal. It doesn't matter. Anything goes.
And Mudbox is a digital sculpting tool.

Try getting a student license for 3DS Max or Maya

Milkshape 3D I heard many like it.
I woulden't know anything about modeling for source, importing and exporting. I'd just thought I'd make note of one of my favorite modeling tools for my 3D applications. But seriously, you should look into 3D modeling like this, it has some great potential, should you ever decide to leave Source behind. If you ever need help I will help you.
Soft Image XSI Mod Tool. It's free, for modders, easy to use, and has proper plugins.
3D's max is by far the best. I was lucky to get a student edition.

We finally cross paths, my "Twin"
There is no "best modelling software" they all have their pros and cons, and it's up to the artist to figure out which is best for his or her needs. For me personally it's 3D Studio Max bundled with Zbrush, but that might not be true for you. I would look up tutorials online for the more popular ones (3DS Max/Maya, Cinema 4D, Lightwave, in that order) and see which one looks good for you.
Honestly I would suggest 3D Studio Max or Maya as they are the two giants in the 3D business, but don't let that stop you looking at other alternatives.
Though, having said that, don't EVER settle for one of the free ones if you're serious about this. You will regret it.
Eh, I use blender a fair bit. If you can't afford the big ones, what's so bad about something free?
Who says you have to buy what you can't afford?

They suck compared to the big ones and they set you up for failure when you switch over to professional versions.
Also, you can get free student licenses for 3DS Max and Maya if you're a student in College or highschool.
Dude, the basic skills should be easy enough to transfer. It's like saying Subsurfacing sucks compared to TurboSmooth for some odd reason. They basicaly do the same things but with different names and of course the UI is different.
I tried XSI Mod Tool, I couldn't even make a square.
I use blender for modelling and milkshape 3D for alligning and scaling
Blender 2.5 have get allot of improvment sins the older version. And there is a thread her om Facepunch where theyt have made a import/export script to Blender 2.5 and it work great. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/734991-How-To-Model-for-Source-in-Blender
But choosing modeling program depend on what you think is easiest. I like Blender work flow. Blender have it limits. But all programs have there golden tools and there false.
XSi is okay. I only figure out the weight paint and rigging. It was a easy way to rig. But Pain in the as always go back and forth between Blender and XSI. And XSI don´t have so many tutorials around the net
I feel like Max is kinda stiff. It more like you always use modifiers on modifiers. I believe it have it benefits.
But i still stick to Blender.

Try following some tutorials :downs:
I downloaded Blender, and I'm going to try it out Today.

Blender Sucks.
Blender = Sucks
3ds Max = Epic for modeling
Maya = Epic for animating
mudbox and zbrush = sculpting programs
milkshape 3d = retarded
XSI = works well with maya animators but 3ds max is better for modeling. Its not a waste of time but why use it when you can use max?
For modding using XSI, Blender, and 3ds Max will work just fine.
For modeling 3ds max has the strongest interface. My friends at ID software and my friends at Terminal Reality all use 3ds max with zbrush for modeling. I know some co.s around here that do everything in Maya but they are not in video games.
Everyone has their own opinion of each program but I have used all of these here and I can say with much confidence that 3ds max is the way to go.
the only software under 100, is blender, and its free.
3ds max rocks, maya rocks but they are both 5000$ +

Will it also work if you want to make ragdoll?
