I've seen the Ceda zombies get ported, why not the other infected?
Oops sorry on that agree. I think it's purty complicated to port them over. They (I think) use a different engine. But all i know is, it takes a while.
they use a fancy shader, someone would need to play with the vmts ( i think the vtfs could stay)
or, chances are gmod gets the l4d2 shaders when portal 2 comes out

No it's not the .vmts. The textures (Valve Texture File) are black and white, and L4D2 uses shaders and various tricks to color them with coding as it were ingame. GMod's version of Source doesn't have such a system, so your best bet is to manually color in the textures in Photoshop or some other image editing tool. That's a pain in the ass, so that's why nobody wants to do it. CEDA was easy because there wasn't much to color. The clown, for example, has multicolored stripes and shit.
they would be fine black and white
There's 1 other problem. The engine randomly chooses the body, head, and legs if I remember correctly

The engine does randomly choose the body/legs/head, but it's not a problem. When you decompile the model, it decompiles all those sections too which you can easily put into GMod. They won't randomly change in GMod, but you can use the bodygroup STool to mess with it.
Really the only issue is textures.
perhaps someone should ask garry to implement that one shader?
Well it's not really a shader. It's part of the engine, which Garry won't update to because the L4D1/2 engine is kind of a branch of the Source engine. It's better than the current GMod engine, but the L4D1/2 engines won't get updated anymore. When Garry updates the GMod engine, it's going to be for Episode Three or something.
Porting the uncommon infected to GMod is easy, just nobody wants to do the textures.
but seriously though, simply editing the vmf would get rid of the retarded colour problem- they might be black and white, but does that matter?
Yes. :colbert:
