Please Explain Exporting 3ds max Models into Garrys Mod
5 replies, posted
I've only recently got 3ds max and i've learned to make a few models. I want to see them in garrys mod.
I've looked everywhere for the tutorials and the ones I have found have been confusing and haven't explained it well. I know i need a decompiler or something, Please help!
Also how do I get models from gmod/tf2/css and bring them into 3ds max?
I tried importing them but it says its an unrecognized file type.
you don't need a decompiler when the model is directly from 3ds max or its already in smd format. Search the forums please
I went in import, looked at all the types of files and there was no .smd format.
Do i need a plugin for 3ds max?
I have 3DS Max 2010
It doesnt seem to be compatitable with valve.

Yes. You'll also need one to export the file, too. Luckily, they and a few other useful tools can be found at wunderboy.org.

That's just because it doesn't have a collision model.
