• Can someone help my modelling workflow from C4D / Blender / Substance Painter to Source Engine

Hi everyone, I've been working on a portal gun for a portal mod (Abyss) and I was wondering what the workflow was to go from model to painting and maintaining mechanical animations. I model in C4d, now I am deciding if i should merge all the shapes into one and color coat them (or vice versa) from there I was going to bring it into blender to make a UV and color ID map so that i could paint it in Substance Painter I want to make sure to be able to create short animations for the final model (like attachments spinning around the gun or other mechanical moving parts being able to be animated) One solution i was thinking was to separate my model into sections and work on them individually- then bring them back together after its all painted. Any suggestions here would be much appreciated, thanks!
