I wonder if it's possible to import Wii game models to Gmod. Has anyone tried it? Is it possible?
yeah i'm pretty sure you can. I've seen brawl and super mario galaxy models. There's even a zero suit samus npc on the workshop.
huh, forgot about them. thanks. was hoping to get a game for the wii imported to gmod. Thanks for making it easier.
One way to do it is writing a decompiler for the game files, which is the hard way out. The easy and shoddy way out is using 3D Ripper DX on Dolphin Emulator.
If it's any of the Wii games mentioned here, then you can use a program called BRRESViewer to export it to a PSK file with the rigging intact.
looked at the list. Couldn't find Red Steel 2. Darn, was so hoping to see its rich characters in gmod... :(
Yeah, seems that the majority of games with that easily-exportable format are Japanese ones. There's still Dolphin + 3DVia Printscreen / DX Ripper / 3D Ripper DX, though, that almost always works, even if the models need manually T-posed and rigged.
So your saying that Red Steel 2 models can be sent to gmod?
Bump. While this is in the subject of Wii importing, I wonder if it's possible to port models from the game Red Steel 2. Specifically this guy: Now this guy is just badass. Sporting a golden-like katana, revolver(s), a old-west styled shotgun, and a tommygun. Even his intro in the game manual explains how awesome he is: "He's the bad-ass inside each of us, the hero that, in our secret hearts, we long to be...bears hardships that would break any man, knows fear but doesn't show it. Knows pain but doesn't acknowledge it...a natural genius with a sword who can do things most of us only dream of. When we become him, we can realize those dreams." This is probably one of the most overlooked games ever, and this guy should get a chance to shine in the gmod community. Then again, since this is pratically a 1st person shooter, just because his full appearance only shows up in cut-scenes doesn't mean his full model and textures along with his weapons and bad-ass duster won't show up to be ported, right?
I guess this means this can't be done, right? Or maybe I'll just take this to a better thread. Oh well...
http://spriters-resource.com/community/showthread.php?tid=21121 These tools work for Wii games, since basically the Wii is using the same Gamecube technology. Except the gamecube extractor, you can use Dolphin emulator to rip models/textures. Just remember though, 3rd party developers usually have their own formats so you're on your own when it comes to finding out how to convert those models. Well, problem is that I am not really good in this field. I don't have the proper equipment at doing this sort of thing. If I tried going near converting Wii models without proper practice I'm bound to screw up and I don't really have the time to learn this quickly. My best option is to find someone or some people to that can do this. If only I knew some expert Wii extractors...
