• Exporting and compiling a rigged modell

Hey Folks, I`m still working on some models from starcraft 2 and reached a point where i seem to be stuck. Hopefully you can help me out here. I followed https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Rigging_your_Custom_Character this Tutorial and created a rigged Model and textured it. I know it is far from perfect and needs a ton of tweaking but as right know i just try to understand the process of creating a rigged model i wont focus on such details. So here are my questions: 1. First of all i can't delete the Valve Biped Guide after i created the rig with the menu "Create Rig From Guide" from the "ValveSource menu". Anybody knows why? 2. Secondly I have no Idea how to properly export and compile a rigged and textured Model. As far as I know i have to: 1. export the model to several smd files + VTF files for Textures 2. afterwards compile it with an .qc file in GUIstudioMDL, to finally get a working source model. Is that basically correct? Which types of .smd files do I need for a textured, rigged Modell (as far as i know there are 4 different ones) and how do i create them? and how must my .qc file look like? https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Category:QC_Commands ( I already followed this tutorial but can't make a clue out of it) Does anybody know a decent .qc file tutorial?
Hy again folks, sry for bumping that thread but i really would appreciate any help regarding my problem. I don't even expect a huge answer from someone explaining every detail to me as I know the subject is pretty difficult but even some links to tutorials which helped you long time ago would be a great benefit.
I'll be honest I'm not too sure how many people around here will be able to help, since so few of us actually use xsi. It's generally max or blender with some Maya or milkshape.

Well thanks for your replys and that information as this will for sure spare me a lot of time not wasting any additional minute with xsi. The only reason I started with xsi among of all those various 3D Programms was because I read that 3Dsmax was too difficult for beginners and the whole "Valve developer community" tutorials where focused on xsi. But if most of the people out there work with Max and blender i suppose the reasonable thing to do here is to switch and beginn from scratch. So are there any detailed, extensive Tutorials about the whole Texturing/Rigging/Exporting/Compiling Process with 3Ds Max or Blender you people know of? Again I would appreciate every link and answer
