• Want to learn how to model

I've never had any experience with this and have absolutely no knowledge of the sort. If someone could create me a list of things I would need to start, that would be great.I'm not looking to create player models, just props specifically for garrys mod. Thanks mates.
Well personally I don't want to spoon feed you. But I can tell you that the way I learned was goal-oriented; I learned what I needed to achieve what I wanted. I wanted better looking fluorescent lights for my maps, so I started there. I got Blender, and attempted to make the first lamp, when I got stuck I searched for answers (the nice thing about Blender is that the amount of help available is uncountable.) I finally got what I was looking for, but it looked shitty so I did it again, and from there I kept working. With each and every model I create the quality improves as I learn new things that I'm curious enough to search about. So now that I'm done rambling I guess you'll basically need to play with the face/edge/vertex manipulation tools and figure those out. You'll need to know UV mapping if you want the model to be skinned. You might need to learn GIMP or Photoshop to make decent textures, and lastly you'll need to figure out how to export and convert the models so that Source Engine can use them. Search "Compiling a model for Source" and look at the valve developer network pages. Later on you can look into texture baking with ambient occlusion, it makes things really quite beautiful if done right. Maybe this helps, maybe this doesn't, its just my experience so far.
I have some tutorials on how to make stuff for Source with blender: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHBjNz9ErMc -- Downloading the tools https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TPvp5eVuMw -- Making a model with blender. I suggest you watch in this order. I don't have a video for UV maps yet. I might make it today or tomorrow. [editline]penis[/editline] Added UV maps tutorial
