If possible, could someone point me to a tutorial for ripping models+textures for weapons and such off these games?
It's just lately everyone's been animating with them :( and I feel like I'm missing out a lot of the COD model awesomeness.
Also, mind giving me a link of some MW2/COD4 hand rigs? :P
Thx in advance. I appreciate it greatly.
There are already tons of weapons, and characters such as
Shadow Company
Rangers (Shepard being worked on) (Ghost Version)
Seals (Soap, Ghost versions)
Task Force 141 (Including Soap, Price, Ghost)
Spetsnaz (Arctic versions too)
Opfor
Cod 4- All the SAS, Russian helpers and Opfor. Its full of them, please before asking look through this forum. It seems as if you didn't give a flying shit and went on to making the thread.
Edit;
Unless you want to port more models such as the Brazilian Militia/Civillians

The weapons perhaps? I know there's loads of player models, but not weapon models. I'd like to extract these models+textures directly from the game.

There are tons of weapon models, a user even made a huge pack just for the Mw2 Scar, just look through the pages in the releases section or search MW2
(Don't bump any threads)

I'm just asking how porting from Cod4 and mw2 is done.
In particular, I am looking for the unique ACR from "Cliffhanger". And some other models from Call of Duty 4. I don't think those are available anywhere else as people are unwilling to release them.
Alright.
This is easy, what you have to do is
Go in WinRAR.
Go to Options and click Settings.
Go to Intergation.
Type in the bar under User Defined archive extensions type
.iwd
Then go to your Steam dir and open your .iwd files and try to extract the models.
Believe me, I extracted all of the MW2 music.

Wtf? It's that simple? I thought it would involve a lot of tedious work, time and effort.
Extracting music may be different to extracting/porting models.. the models might be in a format that is unsupported.
I'll take a look at the game files as soon as I get my laptop back from maintenance.

That's just extracting stuff. And that only works for textures and sounds.

For CoD4, you just need to download the mod tools, install them and then get a tool called something like "xmodelexporter" (google it). For MW2, there's no way to extract the models, you can only get them by ripping them with 3d ripper dx.
Thank you guys! You've been very helpful so far :)
