I found some ancient skyrim models on facepunch, and I'm currently attempting to use them for gmod, but they don't seem to be using the default skeleton Im used to. Its using some sort of NPC skeleton.
Its like perfectly weighted and a great model, so I don't want to delete the skeleton, what would be the easiest way to approach this? Is there some sort of batch rename I could do? does renaming the bones even work?

Try deleting the skeleton and renaming the vertex groups whithin the mesh to those of the bones of a player model skeleton, the weights should remain the same. I think this is the way most player models are done from existing ragdolls or pre rigged models
