• Can someone port Half-life 1 Svencoop's Barney model?
    12 replies, posted
I have no idea how much else needs to be done (someone mentioned rigging??) or how possible this even is but i want to use this as a player model for gmod. There's also some other changes I'll be getting done to it, but i got someone else that can handle that. And no, I'm not interested in the half-life source version, gotta be this version. It's what my (other) avatar is from so yeah. http://filesmelt.com/dl/barney.mdl Anyone want to be a buddy and give this a shot? I'd really appreciate it thankkkkkssss Why i don't want the HL:S version:
Okay, I'll do it. It won't be done for a few days though. I'm visiting home for the weekend and none of my tools are on this computer. I can send you a straight port of the ragdoll first and get you your playermodel sometime later. [editline]6th August 2011[/editline] In the meantime, you should probably check out this thread. It's somewhat relevant to your interests. I have this Barney ported already, but if you still prefer the original Sven Coop Barney over Liquidator's Barney, it's fine by me. Here you go. Made a "postal" variant as well. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2004532/postal_barney.rar
That is fucking fantastic thanks man, well done, and fucking fast, too. And thanks ShoTGuNGuY49, as well. I won't know for sure until I speak with Jaanus, since I was gonna see if he could maybe add some stuff to it (haven't decided what yet), but another guy is telling me there's a chance he might need the "obj" files for the model to easily do that, to save him trying to decompile the model himself. Would it be possible to get those? Thanks again for the help.

You are fucking awesome, thanks again man
You are fucking awesome, thanks again man
No problem. I never checked it in-game, so let me know
Well, they look pretty cool, but unfortunately they have no animations In-game (at least for me). Here's a screenshoot comparison betwen yours Barney and the Silverlan's NPC. PS: I would like to say I really enjoyed the 'Postal Barney' - he looks pretty funny and cool.
Jimbomcb fixed the animations, but there's still one problem that shows up in certain lighting [thumb]http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/3002/2011080600009.jpg[/thumb] Smoothing issues I'm told. But i got a couple people that said they'd fix it, so no biggie. Might be a day before they do. (but if anyone here wants to try and fix it first, be sure to also post the obj. and smd. files as well thanks) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1032139/postal_barney.rar
Jimbomcb probably broke the smoothing when he fixed the anims. I don't even know how because decompilers don't do that. It looks like fury beat me to the model, but hopefully I'll get to finish my pack of playermodels using the PS2 HD models. I've got Gordon sort of done, but I need to fix his eyeposing, finger rigging and torso rigging. [editline]6th August 2011[/editline] It also looks like fury didn't bother to make the helmet chrome texture actually chrome.
Fixed it.
Now it's working! But, unfortunately, the HL2 Barney replaces the normal Barney. Time to test the auto-Hex tool!
oh right i forgot to post the finished version (courtesy of Jaanus) The back of his vest also says POSTAL now instead of SECURITY. Thanks again for the port Fury_161
