How do I increase how many textures one model have? (3DS Max 2012)

Well this is embarrassing, I am working on a very complex model that even I'm not sure if it wasn't over the limit of source but when it came to me texturing the model I ran out of tiles of textures I was allowed, all 21 of them. How do I increase the limit so I can finish texturing this model?

The 3DSmax help documentation tends to be useful :p
(in other words you don't need to keep a material in the Material Editor to use it in a scene)

but as a model for the source engine?
Source probably has a limit on the number of textures a model can use, but I can't find info on this anywhere; this is something you can easily test on your own.

(EDIT: Whoops, I'm an idiot. The texture limit is actually 32, not 24.)
I still need to get over the limit of 21 3DS Max has set me
Did you read my first post? 3dsmax doesn't have a material-in-scene limit; the material editor has a limit of 24 (select the 6x4 view in...one of the Material Editor menus).

I red it, you didn't mention anything about the changing the view in the material editor

For Source, the limit is 32, though I think trying to compile at 32 is actually one too many for some reason.
ERROR: Too many materials used, max 32
Use a multi-sub object material

bit late now since I have finished texturing the model. I'll keep this in mind for next time I do a complex model that needs a million different textures.
Ah well, better late than never :D
