I probably should've made a better title that specified what I needed the first time. Anyway, as I said in the first thread:
Hello there. I'm gonna make things short and sweet. Basically, I work for Machinima.com as a machinima film director. Me and my team are working on making a series based on the Haruhi Suzumiya novels that spawned the drama CDs, anime, etc. Seeing as how Source offers the most creativity and control, we're using that. Unfortunately, none of us have been able to find good character models to use.
What we are looking for is either actual models based on the series (not the cell shaded or cartoonish looking ones. We've seen those already) or simply just uniformed students. We'd prefer blazers and sailor suit uniforms (since the story is set in Japan), but we'd be satisfied with normal school uniforms.
Assuming there aren't any models like these out there, we're looking for someone who'd be able to make these models. Assuming that the series will get enough views for YouTube to pay us the ad-revenue, we'd even be willing to pay whoever makes the models a small sum.
Anyone willing to make the models should email me at drkessence(at)sbcglobal.net (avoiding spam). Otherwise, if you know of any models we might be able to use, please offer them here.
Thanks ahead of time, guys!
I don't think you know what you're getting into. If you can't make these models/skins yourselves, chances are you're not going to be able to do your own choreography.
There is only the Haruhi from the Anime Pack. If someone can rip the models from the wii game, then we'd have better ragdolls of the entire cast(as in anime accurate/novel accurate)

I know how to do choreography. It's just a matter of not having the time to make my own models/skins.

Yes, those were the ones I've seen already.
They don't HAVE to be specifically models from the Haruhi series. Like I said, it can just be school uniforms or the like.
I guess I should say that, TBH, look-alikes are more specifically what we need. This series is going to be based off of the novels, not the anime. Since the novels aren't quite specific about the character's looks, as long as they are somewhat alike to the anime characters (which was mostly true to the novels) then that is exactly what we're looking for.
This is a terrible idea. You are a terrible person.
You aren't exactly allowed to like anime on facepunch. (I broke that rule a LONG time ago, and i'm still violating it)
Still, I'm all for having the the SOS Brigade in Gmod. If I recall, there's an abandonware doujin game that someone could attempt ripping the models from. Then again, almost all of the data is hardcoded into an archive that to my knowledge, is inacessible.
If anyone wants to give it a shot... (It shouldn't be illegal, since the company that made the game is no longer in business.)

You are allowed to like anime, even on facepunch. No one can stop you, just a lot of members don't like it and whine and bitch every time there is a request for anime characters. I say if you don't like the request nor the content, don't post unless you intend to be helpful.
I think I'd find it pretty sad if people freaked out about this. As I said before, it's not based off of the anime. It's based off of the NOVELS which is what the anime was based off of.
@PsychoJosh, your comment was quite unnecessary. I didn't ask for your opinion of the project. I only asked for help is producing it. The Haruhi series contains a pretty good story. Shunning it because it's not American or because there is an anime based off of it is pretty ignorant.
I'm still looking for help, BTW, if anyone is interested.
Making assumptions that I'm "shunning" it, for either of those reasons, is pretty ignorant.
PsychoJosh, you've had quite the history of trolling on threads that have any relation to anime around here.
Stop talking to me.

So then stop replying. No one asked you to. Thanks for bumping my thread, though.

I just remembered, the Aya scout replacement has a school uniform as a replacement for the batter helmet.

Are they hexed skins? Any images whist I download?
-Edit- NVM, I just went to their main site. The skins are very nice looking, but they're definitely too cartoony. We're definitely looking more for HL2-esque skins. Thanks for trying to help, though.

If i recall, Spaztique from PHW was working on making Japanese school uniforms for the HL2 citizens.

It's still a work in progress, but it shouldn't hurt to ask him about it.

Yet the anime's art is quite faithful to the novels' cover art.
I guess this might be the place to mention I'm working on a model of Haurhi Suzumiya. I'll need pics of her though. Multiple angles and stuff like that.
Note that knowing my modeling skills I'd say you'd be good to get the Wii models too.
I also can't get you anything beyond models textures and maybe a basic rig so you'll need someone to port her once it's done.
Note that knowing my modeling skills I'd say you'd be good to get the Wii models too.
I'm porting the Wii models, actually. Not for myself (since I'm not a Haruhi fan), but for anyone who might want them, starting with Mikuru. However, I won't be releasing them until they're all done and fixed up (mainly the hair and finger flexes).
...anybody know how to fix finger posing so that the fingers don't go sideways when you're trying to flex them inward?

Getting reference images from an anime would be pretty hard. It'd probably be easier to find pictures of a cosplayer or stop by an anime convention and find a cosplayer willing to let you take reference images.
Anyway, like I said, we aren't looking for EXACT models of the anime characters (which would mean that cosplayers would actually be pretty good people to base the models after). Although the anime stays true to the descriptions in the novel, any ripped models would look very anime-ish and that's not what we're going for.
Assuming you get the pictures you need and can make some good looking models, I'd definitely be interested in seeing them to see if they are usable in the machinima. Honestly, if it gets down to it, I'll do the models myself, but that'd extend the production time by another several months and it'd add on to my already daunting work-load (I'm writing the script, filming, doing the choreography, video editing, and SFX). Plus, my models skills probably would be around the level of pkt's.
-Edit-Or if someone rips the models and then edits them enough to make them look less anime-ish (it's mostly the faces that make them look anime-ish. Eyes, chin, nose, mouth, etc) that'd be awesome as well. RTB, this edit is more directed towards you.

Wow, those would be perfect. I'll have to PM him and ask how things are going with it.
Oh, I can edit models pretty well if they are in the right format. Give me 3ds obj or something that Blender can support and I'm good.
Also my model is going a bit for the more realistic look. Can someone post the description from the novels.

Oh, that's cool. I'd love to see them when you're done. I'll post some descriptions in a bit. Gotta find what I did with the books lol.
-Edit-Alright, I found the first book.
Kyon- Doesn't seem to have any description what-so-ever, which is understandable since the entire book is in his view.
Haruhi- "I found a girl with long, straight black hair decorated with a flashy hair band adorning her perfectly proportioned face........with unusually large, black, determined eyes adorned with long, fringed eyelashes, her soft pink lips tightly pursed. I was dazzled by Haruhi's snow-white skin." Of course, that's the description before she cut her hair to base-of-the-neck length.
Yuki- "A girl with short hair and glasses.......Pale skin with a face devoid of emotion. Robotic finger movement. Her hair was shorter than a bob cut yet managed to cover her arranged features."
Mikuru- "A petite body and a baby face. Her slightly curly chestnut hair softly concealed her collar.....watery puppy dog eyes.....teeth of white ivory.....well endowed."
Itsuki- "A slender guy who had the whole energetic athlete feel to him. A tactful smile. Benign eyes."
There are several illustrations in the novel as well, but I don't have any way to scan them right now. Like I said before, the anime DOES stay mostly true to the descriptions and illustrations from the novel. The only real difference would be Kyon (since he doesn't have one and I haven't seen him in any illustrations) and Taniguchi and Kunikida since I haven't seen them in any illustrations either nor can I seem to find any description of them.
Kyon from the anime and the mange have different character designs, just an interesting note.
I would also like to see renders of the wii haruhi models, since they are much better then the PC ones.

I find this funny because he wants a Chun-Li Ragdoll, who is made in an anime style. Kinda Hypocritical if you ask me.
Anyway, I support fans of Anime on Facepunch. So I support this Request, tis an awesome Idea.
While I'm still on the head here. Should her nose be anime styled or real style. The latter would be new to me and take a little longer but this won't be done for what I guess at weeks anyhow.

Well, if you're just making it for the hell of it, do what you want. If you're making it with the hopes that I'll use it, then realistic nose.
I was making it for the hell of it but if your goals and mine intermingle I don't think it will hurt.

Ah, I see. Well then, yeah, realistic nose.
