Hey all, I nearly forgot about this thread, I've been quite busy. The funny thing is though, that our effort is still in need of an organic modeler, and seeing how someone bumped this thread anyways, I'll just post some of our WIP thus far.

Basic Idea:
Aura is a gamemode for the Half-Life 2 modification, Garry's Mod. It's a medieval/fantasy MORPG (Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Our workflow is very relaxed and there's essentially no such thing as deadlines. Well as mentioned in the OP, we already have to inorganic modelers that are proficient at what they do. So unless you're good at organic modeling, or great at inorganic modeling, there's really no use. Sorry.

I have 3ds Max 9 and Mudbox. I have been using 3ds Max for about 3 years now.
I have a couple of questions
1. when you say "organic" what do you mean? just humans or animals or perhaps human-like creatures (aliens etc)
2. What polygon range are we to be working with? also are we to make low poly models as well as high?

Poly count is important. I can do pretty decent stuff in certain polycounts. Probably not enough to help you and I can't texture either. It's good to let people know about stuff like that. You may end up with people making stuff in the 100k range or the > 1000 range.

Indeed, thanks. Anyways, still searching for someone to fill the position of an organic modeler. Some other news though, we've had a coder for a bit now, 2-3 weeks. Haven't posted her in the OP though. There's also a sound effects artist on the team, another texture artist, and someone that's helping with mapping, but only the terrain (displacements).
I'm looking for a project to contribute to, I've added that name on steam, we'll talk.

interesting idea a mmorpg in a first person shooter.
Out of interest what amount of playing time are we talking of here if it's a role playing game usually it's going to be long and the modeling above maybe fantastic but the question is are you really going to put that much effort into all the environments? I mean don't get me wrong you want to develop something great but time wise developing this is going to take a HUGE amount of time unless you get a good amount of experienced mappers. I'm currently studying Modeling and Animation at college believe it or not so I would've helped but I just can't see a project like this lifting off unless you have a very experienced and dedicated team. I've just realized the that Runamagic bumped this so forgive me if this project has already "died".

As of now we've moved from a Garry's Mod gamemode to a Source modification. We've also come into contact with a proficient organic modeler and have this thus far:

However, the main reason for this bump is to stress that we're still in need of a proficient foliage artist to populate our map with trees, etc. Although additional inorganic artists and character artists and still open positions, more emphasis on character artists.
That is some amazing mapping and modeling.
It reminds me so much of LOTRO maps, but extremely better. Good luck in finding modelers.
