The largest battleship ever built, featuring the largest guns ever mounted on a warship. The Yamato class battleships were conceived to counter the more numerous American ships by having a single vessel capable of enganging multiple enemy ships at once. Despite the warships massive power, it' status as a national symbol alongside it's massive tactical value meant that the ship was only used for the most pivotal of operations. Yamato notably participated in the Battle of the Phillipines and Operation Sho-Go during the Battle of Leyte Gulf, before finally meeting her end during Operation Ten-Go, which called for Yamato to run aground in Okinawa, in preparation for defense against allied forces. Allied interceptors arrived, and after a fierce naval battle, Yamato was sunk from the combination of multiple torpedo and bomb hits, a fire spreading and the explosion of the second turret magazine. Despite all this, the Yamato remained a cultural symbol for Japan in the decades to come, with many seeing the ship's final mission as a noble, heroic sacrifice in defense of the homeland. Both ships served during WW1 before being retired on April 1st, 1932, possibly as a prank. Name: Sakura-class destroyer Builder: Kure Naval Arsenal Armament: 1x QF 4.7 inch Gun Mk I-IV, 4x QF 12 pounder 12 cwt naval guns, 2x double 450mm torpedo launcher turrets carrying Type 42 torpedoes.
