Hello Everyone,
In an attempt to make my future maps alot less blocky and more interesting, i have been trying to work on making good displacements (rather then pointy crap ones i have made in the past :P)
I have some questions i have been trying to find the answer to but im not quite sure of, and i was wondering if somone could help me. The image below is a map made by a community member for TF2, which i am going to use to explain what my questions are.

1. when making a circular walled area like what is shown in the picture above, is that done with regular brushes in block form that are subdivided together and then rounded via the painting process? Or is it created another way?
2. How would a person go about making such a round and smooth displacement? Would you cut a cylinder in half and make that a displacement? Would you make a bunch of tiny blocks and spend a long time detailing it so they are all smooth and rounded like a hill? How would one make something like this that would look as realistic as shown above (if anyone needs another refference picture of it from inside the area looking up, i would be happy to post it)
If a mapper experienced in displacements could help me clear these 2 things up, i would be very thankful. Thanks for taking the time to read all of this.
For the first one, what you do is you take your brushes making a large box (four sealing it like walls) with the same diameter as the circle. Then, you use the clone tool method and drag it so there are 5 on top of each other. Then, you select all the inner faces and displace them, then you click subdivide. Delete the bottom and top two, and you have a perfectly cylindrical wall.

I think i understand what you mean. So i have to clone the large box 4 times on top of the first box?
