• What are the brush and face limits for hammer?

Sorry, I know I could just compile like a cube or something, but I'm working on something and I'm kinda under time pressure right now, so could someone please just post the limits? I made a 60 sided arch into a kinda hollowed out cylinder, then made a big square under it and used the inside of teh arch to trace my carves and made a 60-sided whole... and over 1800 other brushes. There's also apparently over 10000 sides already. [editline]05:23PM[/editline] Ah, i meant clipping not carve
I dont get it. please post some screenshots from hammer, I dont understand your description.
The limits are much creater than that, a decent map uses alot more brushes and sides than that. You don't have to worry.
limits please? I dont know how to take screenshots of my desktop. Ok, I turned an arch into a full circle and made it 60 sided. When created, this makes a 60 sided almost circular tunnel. I then made a square brush underneath it, then, using the lines made by the inner circle of the arch to trace over, i used the clip tool to cut out a 60 sided whole. In the end it just looks like a straight downward 60 sided tunnel thing [editline]05:30PM[/editline] Oh and I realize a normal map uses more than that, but the arch and the square were the only two brushes I'd actually made. I'm no where near done, and I have to do it again for the top of the tunnel.
I don't know the restrictions by heart, but I can assure you that it's MUCH more than that.

Anyways, I checked my old compile logs and the maximum number of brush faces are 524288 and the maximum amount of brushes are 98304. That's memory. The maximums are 8192 and 65536 respectively.

wellll... yeah. Unless I need to make another one of these tunnels. Just two would bring my brush count to 7200+ and my brush side count to 40000+. So I guess i just wont. :P Oh, and thanks. [editline]05:46PM[/editline] oh, thanks to both of you. STOP POSTING WHILE IM TYPING!
If you want arches that complex, use a model.

A brush with 60 sides is like... Impossible. If you mean an arch with 60 sides that's wayy to many.
32 is more than enough for a circle of 512/512, for big things like gm_flatgrass_2008 as far as I know LarryG used 128 side arches.
