I'm going to divulge some information on the mapping project i'm working on.
I didn't bother finishing any of the other maps that I have previously made.
However, I know i'll finish this one, and it will be even more grand than all of my unfinished works.
Anyways, be sure to bookmark this page if you want to keep track of my map's progress.

Purpose and Features
::A multi-terrain build map which includes the following:
::Mountains
::Max mapsize
::Water
::Flat grass area
::Forest area (Undecided)
::The mountain area might include snow... I have yet to decide

Alpha 1 - 6
:: Compile test 13 - 29 (successfull)
:: Custom Materials for snow + grass blend and hl2 ep2 forest grass + custom sand
:: Compiled mats with the map its self so no need for seperate download.
:: Completed area 1, Grass hill zone.
:: Completed area 2, Snow hilly zone
:: Added cubemaps
:: Added HDR
:: Tweaked HDR
:: Fixed white blinding effect on some props and NPC's
:: Fixed HDR on how it handles the players "virtual" eyes.
:: Fixed hill zone crash when player approaches the hill and garrys mod will crash with no .mdmp file
:: Lowerd Hill Displacement power from 4 to 3
:: Lowerd Snow displacements from 4 to 3
:: Redefined displacements and alpha paint on the lake banks.
:: Smoothed the bottom of the lake
:: Replaced standard texture for "grass + lake" blend
:: Created a Transparent ice bed within the snow area. also added a small bed of water under the ice too for effect.

yea this ones a pain im experimenting with displacements but it seems to be going well actuly
I have the sky box preset up to max map size for your enjoyment
If needed ill make it smaller.

That's as good as it can look without including images in the first post. Even that^ doesn't make it look semi-decent enough to download just to look at it. It sounds so similar to 80% of the maps already made.

People might not know what your on about but to be honest its kinda obvious what it is if it has SAND there and it SLOPES DOWN into a "lake" formation, so next time dont go shouting your big trap off and learn some manners ;)

We don't want to see hammer screenshots. In WIP threads you need to have at least one in game screenshot...or this really is just another wasted thread.

Well...like it or not (most new mappers don't) i will be making my opinion known. Bet your pleased about that.
But, as you are new i'll be nice. Put up some nice in game screenies, and i'll give you a completely unbiased opinion.
the thing is im trying to get a nice screenie but im getting leaks from an unkown position.
No point file nor portal file to use which I rely on most of the time ._.
And i'm assuming you have a skybox...

Displacements don't seal. That could be your problem.
I have a sky box Iv sealed the displacements with a nodraw box
still got leaks
I solved a few obvious open holes but still no dice. :(

FIXED!
I added a water_lod_control manualy after decsovering hammer was unable to add one automaticly and vola!
Oh by the way for those who lack in the hl2 ep2 department I will make another version for hl2 but at the sacrifice of murky brown water :<

Meh, as a official threadstalker, I have found that Phoenix is right about maps roughly 4/5 times, so I would respect his opinion, he is "teh uber mapping god"...

Add a rim around the center structure if you do anything... and make the glass thinner than the rim and than the other material in the center... So it's in the two sides, and it looks like it's set in, not a block.
It looks really bland to be honest. And that water is way too small to actually do anything with, so you may need to reassess that part.
The map is small, the displacements unfinished. I have no idea what the first, second and last picture represent. Looks like a blocky dock, a blocky hanger and a piece of phx glass. The displacements are nice, but down one side, it looks a bit angular, like you haven't finished it yet.
And the central bridge structure does look wrong.
The grass texture on the displacements isn't aligned with the rest of the grass.
