Trying to make different "worlds" (multiple skyboxes) but you can see the other worlds through the skyboxes. What do i do to prevent this from happening? (I hollow them at 32 if that means anything)
Why do you hollow them?
To the best of my knowledge you can only have one sky box per map.
Edit:
Sorry, I mis-understood what you ment. I thought you wanted more than one 3d sky box.
First of all, have you ever seen sky blocking your view in real life? I think not.
Course not, but what do i do?
Also the map SGC_flatground has three skyboxes right ontop of eachother. so i was pretty much wondering what that guy did.
And i surround my worlds with a big skybox, then hollow it so it becomes walls around it instead of the players being inside them. should i do something else?
you can make other skyboxes but you cant change the texture of it... i think
You should make nodraw textures where it should start, then texture the faces you can see with skybox.
Try looking at this

If you need to have something com from the outside you can extend the skybox a little. Also upward.
Wait, you mean like planets?

Like on the bottom of the skyboxes that are above the others? I'll try it out (nevermind just understood :P, i'll try it out thx)
and yes, this is kind of like planets, except bigger & without space in between.
each skybox has a texture so if you want to take the time, you can make a 3d skybox and but textured cubes around each area with each face as a part of a skybox, might make an example for you.
Run vis.
Well I've attempted this in a few maps and finally had it come out successful. My guess on the easiest way to do it is get all your sections you want to have seperate 3d skyboxes for centered on the grid,
Once you've done that, shrink them down 16 times the original size -
Then center it on the grid then set the skybox viewer entity in the direct center. Then around each of the miniature "planets/areas" create boxes with what you would like to have in the 3d skyboxes.
Make sense? Feel free to bug me if this makes no sense what-so-ever. :\
The main thing you will have holding you back is you can not have different skies
in each seperate skybox unless you stretch textures, [don't.]
___________
As for seeing other sections of your map at a time when they are sealed off by skybox
I recommend Func_Areaportals!
Thx for the help everyone.
I'll try make my way around it. if all else fails i'll try out the 3D skyboxes.
