• What's the best way of making a car crash through a wall realisticly?

Like the title says, I'm making a car drive through a (metal) garage door and I was wondering how I should go about doing it. I've considered several func_physbox's, with motion disabled, with an env_explosion, followed by the car and just a func_breakable, but neither look very realistic. How should i do it?
Your best bet would be to make a cinematic model.
You could use a basic HL2 car model, set as prop_dynamic to go through a wall, with the func_physboxes, as you said, but it might look unrealistic or be laggy. Maybe have an animated wall that breaks on a trigger set by the car?
Cinematic physics

Either have a cinematic model or have an explosion big enough to cover the hole suddenly appearing.
How would I make a cinematic model then? For now, I'll just have a few physbox's.

Or with XSI, here.
hey! i got an idea! you make a fake DMM door! take multiple parts and just put em togheter!then it looks like the door brakes!
If I understand what you're saying, wouldn't that lag a lot though?
No. And stop watching 2ksphilip or whatever the hell hes called.
That kid was obviously trolling. Cinematic models are best
What would the map you're including this on be called? And (more importantly) are you planning on releasing it?
That kid was obviously trolling. Cinematic models are best
That's fine and all, saying to use cinematic models, but what if you're someone like me who doesn't know how to model?
env_explosion doesn't really look to good, I'm sure there are alternatives...
What would the map you're including this on be called? And (more importantly) are you planning on releasing it?
I guess. Why? I've tried modelling, but I've failed every time. Would someone be willing to try make one for me? [editline]05:00PM[/editline]
If I understand what you're saying, wouldn't that lag a lot though?
No. There arn't many physbox's, so it should be fine.
I made this brick wall explosion, there are a lot of physboxes and no lag at all. Excuse that lighting error, I screwed something up in the process.

Plus, why does your jalopy sound like a jeep?...
I made that with a trigger at first, which is how I recorded it. So it explodes early. Now, I have the bricks set to explode OnTouch, but I didn't feel like re-recording. Also, idk.
