For lack of a better name, I need to know how, if possible, you can use the server-side saving mode (darkrp's money and name fo example) for more then one... Let's back it up and start, answer in order 1. Is it possible to contain more then one map in a server? 2. Can you connect servers together, as in, If I enter an in-game area and go to a "door" that sends you to a new area (another server), Think of the L.o.t.R.O region mechanics except each regin is a server. 3. Can a server get info tfrom another, as in, if your char. has 300 gold and some items in one server (area) can you "send" that to the other Server (area) so when you enter a new area you have all you old stuff. 4. And finally, What is a maximum number of players that would be good on an MMO gamemode of GMOD, one with the stuff stated above. I know it's about a gamemode, but the real question is towards the actual map making, so no trolling
1. Not in the same server. You can in multiple servers. 2. Yes. 3. Yes. 4. Without it lagging? And NPC's? I'd say around 16-20, maybe less, maybe more, depending on your server.
I was thinking only npcs for major roles such as: Merchants Storyline quests Enemies overall a large bunch,15 players isnt too small, I'll have to tinker and see how I can do it with little lag
You might have to rewrite the NPC codes, or make your independent mod. As far as I know, it seems Garry's Mod is a lot more unstable/laggy than Source Mods.
4. Without it lagging? And NPC's? I'd say around 16-20, maybe less, maybe more, depending on your server.
and how many servers he has. He could have many more, as long as they weren't all in the same server at the same time.
So then as long as I have a large gamemode: Lots of servers(regions(I've mapped 4 already)) A good number of npcs and the ability to play at least 30 people at a time (as long as gmod handles it (might need to script auto kick for bad connects or ping)) [editline]09:45AM[/editline] it'll work?
I don't see why it shouldn't work. 30 players per server should be fine as long as you have the hardware/connection for it.
