I've been getting a bit into Hammer and I want to do something I've wanted to do since MvM came out, meaning, make my own custom MvM map. I'm not sure if I can make the bots spawning in it have custom equipment and if so, how to do it? Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask.

the robot part is an afterthought, focus on the map first

As Hell-met said, the map will be the biggest part. You have to balance it correctly so the players do actually have a chance against the bots ( sentry spots, sniper spots... ), then make your map original, with custom textures, custom ambience and stuff.
For the custom bots part, there are few good websites that allows you to create your own wave of bots like [URL="this one"]http://mvm.tf/[/URL], which is a bit messy, but quite complete I think. There, you can create custom bots, decide where they spawn, when they spawn...
