Is there any convinient way to make a 360° screenshot in HL2? I think this section is the most related...
I think that no but you can make photo by photo.
I mean make a screenshot, then turn the camera and another screenshot, etc.
Then it won't be aligned.

Also, there's rain effects, and it would fail.

Found a way with envmap :rolleye:
The cubemaps would be rather small though....
Might be able to do a series of console commands:
Do a GetPos to get your current posiition. Leave the first 3 values alone (Translation), and then take the second 3 and round them off to whatever you need to point one way. Then, copy this, add 60 to whichever value makes you turn, copy this etc.
Now that you have 6 values, set them up like this:
setpos xxx, xxx; screenshot; setpos xxx, xxx; screenshot.
The only problem I can fortell is closing the console between screenshots or else you get a screenshot of the console. That I'm not sure.

Ah: Do "hideconsole; " then put all your setpos's.

Creating a 2D skybox for Goldsource, using Source
It is possible to create an area of your map into a 2D Skybox to be used in Goldsource (the HL1-engine). Here's an simple example:
Create a large outdoor area with some displacement maps and treelines, and fog to hide the edges. Lets call it carrotjuice .
Load the map ingame and turn cheats on ( sv_cheats 1 ).
Activate the noclip-mode by simply opening the console and enter "noclip" and hit Enter.
Fly to the center of where you want the skybox.
Open up the console and type "mat_envmaptgasize 256", hit Enter.
Now type "envmap" and press Enter. Now, 6 TGA-files are now created and saved into a folder named "cubemap_screenshots" in your modfolder ( i.e. for HL2DM: Steam\SteamApps\youraccount\Half-Life 2 Deathmatch\hl2mp ).
Since the mapname was carrotjuice , the name of the 6 TGA-files are as following:
carrotjuicert.tga (Right)
carrotjuiceft.tga (Front)
carrotjuicelf.tga (Left)
carrotjuicebk.tga (Back)
carrotjuiceup.tga (Up)
carrotjuicedn.tga (Down)
You can now copy or move these to your HL1-mods gfx\env-folder, to use it as skybox in a level.

This should do what you are asking for.
mat_envmaptgasize works.
mat_envmaptgasize works.
Full instructions? :D
Walk to the point you want,
Exec this:
mat_envmaptgasize 512
envmap
Look in your %vproject%/cubemap_screenshots/ folder.
Ah so it takes it from an env_cubemap huh? I'll try this, it may produce some interesting effects.

Here's how my way works out (With Photostich)

One little problem with that extra door on the right, cut that part out and you got a bitching wallpaper, or some cool dual screen wallpaper.
Yeah it's not an extra door it's just positioned badly. I need to see if I can get it 'balanced', so that the center piece (each base) is 2/5ths and 4/5th's of the way in, then have a bit on each side + the filler.

Where's wally? :P
Edit: Damnit it got rescaled :/
The guys at Gmod Tower did some panoramics, it's like a 360 shot, but its interactive.

(you need quicktime)
I wonder if you could use a screenshot taken like this to make a 2d skybox...
Now I can make a Wallpaper for my Dual Screens :D

Which programm had u used for Quicktime VR?
[editline]07:06AM[/editline]
Uhh, now i have a pfm File, my PC say it is a Font o___O
Hmmn. I can't figure out how to get up/down photos. (Reduces the amount of cropping needed)
I'm gonna try writing up a script which will set the resolution to something square, set the FOV to 90, take screenshots of left, up, down, right, front, and back, and you'll end up with a full skybox basically.
[editline]11:50PM[/editline]
http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/5017/failz.jpg
I experimented with r_aspectratio but it apparently messes with the FOV and graphics for some reason so it didn't work out how I expected.
With what programm youre opening the pfm?
[editline]08:07AM[/editline]
Yeah i opened with PS xD
Which way have you made 360 ° Pics with only 6 sights:aaaaa:
Please tell me :D
Here's some crap I did a while ago. Looks like shit though, I can't figure out how to make it smooth.

Are you PropMedic? His panoramics are what inspired me. My question is how do you get the top/bottom at x900, withotu cropping? Or do you start at a higher resolution and then when you crop you can still get it out at 900.
[editline]12:08AM[/editline]
Remind me not to try 2fort... :|

I did not mess with my resolution. Remember, when doing panoramas, leave about a half inch of the screenshot you just took overlapping the last one.
This diagram probably doesn't help because it's so cryptic.

Anyway, if you leave just a little bit of the last screenshot in your next screenshot, photoshop notices the similarities in the photos on their edges and it helps it mend the photos together.
If you already knew that, then I'm not sure what's going on with your panoramas there...
Can someone make a script that takes all the images needed please ?

+right, turn the HUD off, and spam a button bound to take screenshots.
