A small one-day project that I may update if I get enough feedback from this version, maximum map size, and for some reason, two suns :v:. There's also a secret area if you can find it :smile:. I let vvis auto-optimise this one, it's not really fps-demanding so I don't know if it needs further tlc with optimising. But if it does, I'll do it when I release v2 / next update, if I do.

Few side-notes;
Contains the CS_Millitia skybox materials, seen as most people have Counter Strike: Source nowadays.
The two suns may not be a map bug, but something to do with me, I dunno.
Took me roughly a day and a half to get to this point, from a single block of grass with concrete, I moved on to duplicating them, creating the spawn point on the original. I later added water around the other islands. Made a bridge, then added lighting. Once I'd finished polishing off the lighting, I made the 3d skybox, and added the circular tower at the spawn. Finally, I made the shack, which houses the entrance to the sewer (secret area). All in all, this is a first release. Enjoy.
Give me C&C on what I can improve on / change in the next version, that is if you don't think this version is okay as it is.

Repeating textures and 3D skybox need a lot of work.
The two suns thing is either
1: The skybox
2: You have that addon installed where the sun is supposed to go through a day and night cycle.
It really is nice to see someone making a good, original and useful construction map.
Pakrat the skybox textures into the map next time? I had to do it myself so it could be used on a server. (Or you could do resource.add I suppose)
You don't need the materials serverside.

GM_trainconstruct has the same sun problem, I'm gonna work on my lazy 3d skybox, I just wanted a simple one in the first version. Expect something a hell of a lot better in the next release, if I'm asked to add anything.
Fix the overbrightness please
And yes, the players who don't have CSS wont' be able to see the skybox unless they download it.

I was presuming you meant for them to see it even with css you needed it on the server, oh right. Yeah, they need the materials. But usually people have css, I'll pakrat them next time.
Oh and, the overbrightness isn't a problem, it's HDR. Looks fine by the standard of most maps with hdr. I may add a tonemap controller and stuff for hdr eventually if I update it.
For now, you could use mat_hdrlevel 1 in console, lowers the brightness while keeping hdr.

How can I fix the map? It just has the same name plus a number so that people don't get errors. The only difference is pakrat. mat_hdr_level 1 won't work because it's a dedicated server, not local.
Well, it shouldn't be too bright lol. It's fine for me, if other people are complaining then they're just too busy looking at the sun for the whole time.

My cubemaps broke because I renamed it so anything reflective (toolgun, baton, phx props) are almost white.
Reupload the map, and add the skybox materials as a required download from your server. I should've thought about pakratting. It's just harder and makes the map size larger, which I don't suppose matters really.
Started work on V2, adding a few things, fixing some bugs, remaking 3d skybox FROM SCRATCH, more interactivebits coming too.
BTW I just fixed my prob with a .res
Actually you shouldn't really pakrat the skybox since most people have CSS, but for my server I just prefer having it also be somewhat playable for non CSS people.

Must be the school district in the state of Alaska period, because before I moved I had the same problem, but I didn't have a laptop then, and I had internet at my house there...
I'll find a way to steal wireless from somewhere (Town of less than 3,000 and wireless is sparse) and get the map though :eng101:
