This is my new map which is still under construction, and is based on the Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask main location in the center of the map of Termina.
It does not have any entities at the moment but I will put some in, but first I want people to test it, see what it's like, I know it's not that good because the textures are more HL2-based and there are no doors or accessible buildings.
In the future it will contain:
-Doors to buildings (use to teleport to another area of the map where building is) and also to the clock towers interior
-An extended building area namely 'Termina Field' as it is known on the game
-Different terrain types with displacements etc, the 4 terrains corresponding to the 4 compass directions (Sand for beach, Snow for mountains, Grass for forest, Rock sand for canyon)
Here are some screenshots, however I won't be posting my map yet as it needs some thorough improvements.

Apologise for image size but there is no way that I can resize them without having to use PS and re-upload them which takes a long time.
Don't post WIP threads, it looks blocky as hell and unappealing to play on.
Gmod community is going to love this.
A bit simplistic.
it looks nice but can be improved
let hope this one gets released
You really need to work on your brushwork and textures. This is missing so many details that it barely resembles Clock Town.
I suggest you find screenshots from Majora's Mask and use them as references. Or better still, play the game again and just have a look at everything in Clock Town.
For example, this:

Should look more like this:

You wouldn't even need a lot of custom textures to add some of these details - just some clever brushwork can suffice.
I'm not exactly trying to make it perfectly identical to Majoras Mask's version, I intended to keep it Half Life 2 based
Oh christ the horror.
My main suggestion is to use some custom content, and put more work into the detail on the map.
Are you new to mapping? If you are, I suggest you take a look around at some of the other posts on the forum about detail. Or go to the Map Pimpage thread and see how people detail their maps. I know this is a replica to another game, but you should still add some details to it!

Yea, you should rather post in the pimpage thread and not make a thread until it looks a bit better.
I remember Fluxmage's Clocktown.
Good luck with this, I would look forward to it. :buddy:

Yeah, like he said.
Keep up the good work though, this map may get somewhere over time. Just don't work through it too fast.
I don't understand his. OP, can't you see the massive difference in your map and what it's supposed to be?
holy christ, looks like some of my stuff from days past...
stop being so mean and besides this map can be improved

You are definitely not the right person to be giving out advice on anything to do with mapping.
It looks to me like you have a good layout going. The next big step would be to work on some custom art assets to do an art pass throughout the map, as right now it's looking plain and empty. If you don't know Photoshop or 3ds Max, I highly suggest you learn if you want to tackle a project like this. Otherwise, great start, and good luck.
Well I did happen to make it in just 6 hours and it was my intention to put in alot of details and make it look better with more custom textures. I have photoshop and knowledge of it but i've searched for the game textures but couldnt find anything good to use for it.

You could try to make the textures on your own, that would probably be the best bet for it. You could make them higher detail too.

The "You could make them higher detail too." wasn't meant to sound rude. I meant it like, you could make them higher detail than the original game's textures.
It doesn't sound rude the first time :buddy:
I think you are right about me rushing the map a little, or maybe a lot. Making the custom textures myself doesn't seem like a good idea, although I have experience with Photoshop doesn't make me really good at it, where in the past I made a theater map with ridiculously bright colours and didn't fit in at all so I wouldn't be much good in that department.
Is there a forum where I can talk about future maps / proposals of making a map which might be a good idea to make, or should I make a separate thread?
As at the moment i'm currently working on two other maps
WIP map threads require content in the OP, so discussing ideas would be better off in the Map pimpage thread

Even so, this is considerably lacking in detail to the point where the N64 game looks better. If you don't intend to remake Clock Town or Termina, that's fine; it's your decision as a mapper what you do with your work.
But you have a modern game engine that's capable of far more at your disposal. So why not use it to its full potential?

I suggest getting the rom and using that for reference
If he manages to finish it or get farther than Flux, well, that alone is still better. Flux appears to have abandoned his.
I doubt he will.

You do know zelda for the N64 looked blocky as hell to me, and I still played it, this is great, Can't wait to play
