Work in Progress: de_cypress » a italy styled defusal map

Hello Guys,
welcome to the preview of my new map currently under hard work!
I already build up the whole structure in devtextures and played the map with friends to check the influence of the map and the gameplay. Right now we're on the point of detailing all spots and are actually nearly finished with the first bombspot, but we're not even half the way done to the final map.

Looking pretty cool, keep up the good work.
I think it's a little bit too open, but I guess this is just amplified by the fact that the map is almost empty.
Thanks man! :)

Yep you're right. We don't have any objects on the bomb- and tactical spots, also we didn't started to work on the A-Spot.
Going to keep you up 2 date when we added more stuff.
any tips for now?
A few ideas:
- Everything looks a bit too big, walls and entrances seems wider then IRL
- When people map, they don't think like a city builder would.... why is there grass between a path and a set of stairs? Logically it makes no sense but it's hard to spot when mapping.
- Building design is suppose to be interesting, creative and pretty, so slapping an arch in and pushing it back into a square wall removes the curvature effect your trying to get.
- Use some actual IRL city shots to work from for more ideas/styles/looks.
Remember that countries and/or cities have their own feel to them, i'm talking sizes for example.
If you got to Italy you will find lots of things are small, petite and delicate rather then brash, bold and large like you would see in most US cities.

Thank you very much for your tips. You're right I never actually thought about putting a path between the stairs and the pathway. I'm going to work on the map today and will update this thread with new images.
Thanks man.
already pulled up some referenceshots yesterday. :)
