ehh, coming soon is an ultra realistic city with interiors for every building that would play use to DarkRp or Zombie Rp etc.

The following will have full interiors:
Publics (plus blank x6)
Crossroads Church
Wendys
Bank of America
Half the trailers in the trailer park
Tv Station
Gym
Combine overwatch (will be underground as to keep the map realistic)
Emissions Go (car wash layout)
Catfish Hollow
"Empty"
Zaxby's
Dollar Plus
Kroger (+blank x8)
Kroger gas (bathroom stall sized interior)
40%+ the homes in the neighborhood
The Random shed
Bank of newnan
(should i interior blockbuster?)
Untitled Bank (empty mostly)
Mc Donalds (note: not labeled in picture, next to kroger gas)
(Crossroads automotive?)
Untitled Storage
Chick Fil A
Waffle House
your ideas?
The parking lots will have static cars in random spots to give it more of a populated feeling, the buildings entitled (blank) or (empty) will have nothing in them giving the players the garrysmod style opportunity to make their own shop that most rp maps don't give. there's also some blank land opportunities that allows players to build there "automatic gun shops" and "admin hotels" if they want. NO ADMIN/SECRAT ROOMS! most of the border is surrounded by trees and Forrest, I'm still deciding weather to stop the end of the roads with a roadblock or just skybox it shut.
small help welcomed..
Opinions, Comments, Criticism, Please.
UPDATE 5:40 PM

Small update: mcdonalds texture/ drivethrough position test. I know, the ground texture is DX but im only gunna use it for a small portion of the map.
UPDATE 11:02 PM

Mc Donalds progress about 70-80% complete interior is 50% done, It's susposed to look like an older, more realistic mc donalds. Not the king you'd see on a commercial, more of a local one.
UPDATE DAY 3 9:44 PM
It has come to my attention that i need a modeler to help me with this project, me having no expierence with maya or blender or whatever source modeling program (i usally use 3ds max) but basically i need a modeler to model things such as signs, coke fountains, giant 'M''s. I can provide uvw unwrap mapping, texturing etc. all you have to do is model, export, make collision, done. appriciated.
UPDATE DAY 4 2:50 PM
new map, smaller, better key, higher quality?.
also the mcdonalds has half a parking lot, didn't think the change was significant enough to post images.
UPDATE DAY 6 6:46 PM

NEW PIC! that building in the background is Crossroads Automotive so you know where on the map this is.
I know this update is small but i've been somewhat preoccupied with school and such. anyway comment or whatever WE STILL NEED A MODELER PLEASE
Interesting map for your map.
In my opinion: you should make at least 1 building first, not just draw a picture of your plan.
We don't really care.
Do some decent work on it and we might.
[editline]10:10[/editline] Ah, something is coming of this. Looks good so far but:
1. The tables on that first building are all squashed together and there are far too many of them in such a small space.
2. The wall texture you're using in both screenshots is really nasty.
3. The second building is rather blocky (lacking detail)
4. Wait 'till you have in-game, lit and textured shots.

At least he's put SOME effort into it. I hate the WIP threads that just star off with this tl;dr block of text and n o content whatsoever.
Planning is good for the map. Encouraging blindly rushing into a large project just shows your mapping abilities.
Personally I think it's a bit discouraging to lay out the entire map before you begin: Doing one building or a small section is better because it's easier for you to look at what you've done and say "Look what I've already got done" instead of "look at everything I still have to do".
In addition to that, I think it's ultimately better for the map because unless you do everything perfectly the first time, doing a layout runs the risk of you channeling your efforts into a bad idea/layout. Without a huge map already planned out, it allows you the freedom to go "okay that looks good, this would look good next to it."
When it comes to mapping, I think part of being good at it is the ability to go "that doesn't work/look good, let me re-do this."
That, I believe, is a matter of opinion.
That, I believe, is a matter of opinion.
that's why I started it with 'personally'.
Unless you do some serious resizing, I don't even think this would fit in hammer. It is huge and has a lot of dead space between all the buildings.

See: Evocity.
Just kidding, I definitely agree with you. While it may fit in Hammer, they layout is piss poor and no one would play it (if the map was of decent quality) just because it would be so frustrating to walk from place to place.
then i'll have to do some cutting here, some cutting there, much lower size, etc
Fairly optimistic, especially for a one man project.
Still, it would be awesome for zombie survival.

I think it sounds cool..
But....
I was expecting it to look like

Problem with trial and error is you get a lot of error, and waste a lot of time not knowing what you are doing
Planning/inspiration is never a bad idea.

Quit using this word, :10bux: says you learned it from the rating.
So yeah, question, how exactly do you plan on fitting all of this on a quarter of a square mile grid? :raise:

Yeah, I was expecting the same.
With a slight taste of disappointment, I'm sure this map will turn out just fine.

because of the overview map or my description realistic?

No, I learned it at school about 5 years ago.
Why would I have only just learned the word?
[editline]07:34PM[/editline]
OP, you mind adding a scale to your map?
I'm finding it difficult to get my bearings on the approx. size.
because of the overview map or my description realistic?
No the picture is of World Of Warcraft. A well populated player area known as The Crossroads
oh, dont play WoW.
