This means you can get all your portal materials for free (even though you probably have them already.)

If you get it for free, you get it for free and keep it, it's only after May 24th they charge a price again.

It is implied that there are no strings attatched. The copy you add to your steam account should work forever.

It is for free until May 24th. And yes, I believe you do get to keep it. ;)
And then, on May 24th, everyone who downloaded it gets VAC banned and their steam accounts get disabled.
Personally, i think that anyone who hasn't played portal should be vac banned :)

I did like it, and it's simplicity was awesome, but, for me, it doesn't have much replayability and I'm not really into that kind of puzzle game so the advanced maps were useless.

it was mainly a physics showcase from valve.
IMO
They shoulda put in lasers and actively moving platforms for an extended campaign.
So yea everyone who discovers Steam after May 24th is out of luck. Wish the SDK worked...
The portal sdk works for me.
You could create loads of accounts, and DL portal onto them, then after the 24th, sell them...
