This is my first time posting a map here, so try to go easy on me, haha. I've been poking around on these forums for a while now, since I got back into mapping last winter. Before then I'd done a lot of mapping for HL2DM. mostly experimental stuff, seeing what I could do to break the game, but since I discovered how much Gmod had changed since it was... a free mod, I jumped back into the world. I have a few other maps and a gamemode on the workshop now, but I just put these out. I spent more time on them than I'd like to admit, and I'm still tweaking a few things to get them just right, mostly lighting, shadows, and bugs. I'm still not happy with the way the water looks in the night version, but it does look better than in the pic. I still need a bit of work on my displacements, but it's only my second map to use them. This is based on my family's cabin down at lake Texoma, I've been going there since I was like 3, so I built it all from memory. It's scaled up about 2x than real life just to make gameplay a little smoother. These have been tested with TTT, Murder, Hide and Seek, and Prop Hunt, and they're all pretty fun. Looks really nice
Looks great! I do want to say, though, that you've got lots of empty wall space there. Maybe make some creative windows and let some "natural" light in? A-Frame cabins usually take advantage of the only flat walls, IE shoving a bunch of windows in there. Dang, this is super fucking cool, awesome work!

I love those pictures. I was originally trying to stay accurate, but you're right, since I scaled up the size I should scaled up the number of windows as well. I agree, the walls look way too bare. Other than more bookshelves and art, what else do you think I could do to make it feel more cozy?
I like it. My grandparents live in a house that was extended from an A-frame, so I have a bit of a soft spot for A-frames.
Thanks, Magman. My grandpa had this built in the mid 80's. Back then I lived in California and my mom took me on vacation to Oklahoma while it was being built. I was pretty much terrified of, well, nature then. As a little kid I didn't get much exposure to it living in LA. haha. I have made a lot of great memories at this place so I thought mapping it would be kind of fun.
Looks like a great map but I wish you would put an alternate download link for SFM Users, I know this was created for Gmod but I like the way this map is layered. I could just use GMOD Extractor but.. Meh.

I'll be sure to provide a link for direct download in future releases.
So, this is fun... Venturian used my map in one of his videos which has over 1.2million views currently. http://youtu.be/oxGkx6kpceA I really like how he links and credits himself, his friends, player models, social networks, but NOT the map. It's kind of cool on one hand, but also kind of a douche move on his part. I understand that maps get passed around and changed a lot, but seriously... Guess I should just let it go and be happy some incredibly annoying kid made a popular video with my map...
Maybe he forgot? You should try contacting him. Otherwise, it's just business as usual with youtubers being uncrediting dicks
Maybe he forgot? You should try contacting him. Otherwise, it's just business as usual with youtubers being uncrediting dicks
I reached out in a few ways but I doubt he'll ever notice. What bugs me most is there's a lot of commenters asking him what the map is...
