Getting sounds into Episode 2?

I'm having a bit of trouble.

I've put a sound file (.wav) into my epiosde 2/ep2/sound directory but it's not working in game.

I was told this is where you should put sounds.

Also, I extracted the sounds from HL: Source and the menu sounds seem to have overwritten the menu sounds (like when you scroll over something).

The sound is just TV static, but I cannot get it to work.
