Is it possible to get the Heavy rain from Hard Rain in L4D2 into the 2006/7/9 engine? Because the normal rain is really not very effective, and it would be good to get some hard rain that feels like its doing something, rather than a few blue lines.

No one have any ideas? I'm not sure how to port rain like this.

Can some one at least tell me if it is possible or not? Is it a sprite or something?
Maybe if you get the sprites or whatever it is. You would probably need to manually add fog though.
Or I could be completely wrong and just made an ass of myself by saying this.
You probably know more than I know about it.
It would likely require a bit of coding since the older rain has no ground splashes.
Isn't it just a particle effect with some extra coding?
There is not a supported particle system in the 2006 engine, only 2007 and up I believe.

He was asking about all three engines (2007/2008/2009)
Doesn't matter what engine, or the ground splashes. I just wanted a heavier rain than the current ones. Any other way for heavy rain?
You could buy the game /pun
Anyways, why don't you look at the Hard Rain environment .vmf's? Also port the particles from the .gcf.
Yeah I own the game :v:
P.S I'm to lazy to open up Hard Rain vmf Most of the time L4D2 Hammer crashes because I'm impatient and I click on it. And 2006 Hammer crashes on me when I load up CS_Militia so I don't think it would work anyway.
If I did port the particles do I just put them in the same directory they where in in the L4D2 pak sept in <game>?

For the last time, it's VPK, not GCF. :v:
Fussy fussy :P I just say pak because that's something like the name , yes?
But it still would be nice to know if you can get some sort of harder rain or not.
I could sound like an idiot by saying this or maybe I could be right. What about a normal rain brush and then duplicate it 2 or 3 times in the same place? Just saying..
I have a bunch of rain brushes, I'll see what it looks like in game.
I just tried lots of brushes at once, I got some images.
1 brush:

I don't know how many:

use a particle effect or do what i did and code it in

I was going to say this.

Have you ever played L4D2? You wouldn't get the same effect. Plus he already did that.
Tried a particle system but you still have a crude rain and it goes everywhere so it wont work for my map anyway

No i haven't, but i know the effect, either way if you can't do anything else then it's tough shit.
