Hey guys this is Dredile.
I just released a map just like flatgrass but with a militia skybox and a big pool in a corner.
the skybox is pretty high to perfect for ragdoll slaughtering or whatever else you want.
I would love to see this on your server so if you want you can.

Yeah well all other remakes of flatgrass only have a few bits of added details as well.
But that doesn't make them any better. Try to make something that is new and original.
Needs to be bigger, like flatgrass.
Why not make something interesting instead of some construct map?
There are thousands of construct maps maybe enough of them?
So the best advice i can give is to make a normal map not a map for construction.

It's just a little theory I made up. I call it
'manually splitting the B S P'.
More of a pain in the ass, than it's worth. Faster to do a level change.
flatgrass is actually only one quarter of the hammer grid I think.

The only way to do it is to recomplile the map tools and make a mod with the max BSP size changed.
There's no way flatgrass is the max. gm_Mobenix_V2 is like 8x the size of flatgrass.
Y'know, there is already a gm_flatgrass_v2...in fact there are several, but I think the first (and best) was made by none other than GiGaBiTe.

gm_mobenix_v2 IS the size of Flatgrass, just in sections to make you [b]think[/b] it's bigger.
Do a Noclip out of the map, and compare it to Flatgrass. People have tried to make flatgrass bigger, all saying "Hammer limits".

Honestly, it works for me. Simplicity at it's best, in my opinion. I'll give you a mapping king. :)
I made GM_headcrab, and that was 2/3 the size of GM_flatgrass.
Just the retarded skybox and other things made it seem so small...
GM_flatgrass could be TWICE as large [in height] , it's height is only at half.
And, you can get bigger than flatty. I made a more recent version of GM_headcrab [although no-one will see it anytime soon because it uses too many new textures and there's errors with some of the func_tractrain s etc.]
And when i use an elevator that goes to an admin room [halfway up the map's height, which is only half of the full potential] some of the map in the far corner dissapears, and you see skybox. And there is a few hundred units that i could expand it, but didn't, because that would fuck it up.

Freespace isn't bigger, it's jut got a lot of stuff in it which makes it SEEM bigger.

If you notice, gm_mobenix_v2 takes advantage of height as well as width and depth making it seem bigger.

Pfft. I've played freespace03 and freespace06_v2-1, and they're both the size of flatgrass.

Well i am realeasing flatgrass4V in a bit, it will be alot bigger and will even come with an icon! :)
