Control+F9, it enables object translation/scaling in the 3D views :v: I'm not shitting you guys, I haven't found any documentation of it anywhere. Try it, it can be very useful. Please note I've already added it into the hammer hotkey reference in the VDC.
what does object translation/ scaling mean?
what does object translation/ scaling mean?
You can drag objects and scale them from the 3D viewport. Other than in vertex edit/brush create modes.
it can also be achieved by pressing x
it can also be achieved by pressing x
Oh well. The more ways to do something, the better. Also, Control+F6 toggles between windows inside hammer, while Control+F4 closes the current window.
Something to take note of is Ctrl+H no longer hollows your selection, it hides everything but your selection.
I already know about this, it annoys the shit out of me when I occasionally miss Z to switch to the camera.
The most annoying new hotkey is using the arrows to adjust textures in the Face Edit Sheet. Seriously, I want to move my camera around with the arrow keys to texture multiple faces at one time. I'm hoping they eventually make an option to disable it.

... Am I the only one who literally doesn't touch the arrow keys when mapping?
... Am I the only one who literally doesn't touch the arrow keys when mapping?
It's really preference, some people like arrow keys, others like z + mouse. I personally prefer the arrow keys for no specific reason, I just like it better.
i used to use the arrow keys all the time, now i think using z is much better. does take some getting used to though.
I use WASD for face edit...
I knew about this hotkey for a long time... I used X though its much easier to use and I thought everyone knew about this...
It's really preference, some people like arrow keys, others like z + mouse. Since then I used the Z + mouse, and discovered that you can select, copy/paste, edit faces etc with it.
I'm left handed and usually use arrows keys to move around in games, so it was a lot more natural before they only allowed WASD with Z to texture, however I am getting used to it.
