Actually really damn good for a first map
decent for a first map, but not amazing for a map in general. List: - Buildings are just blocks with textures on them. - shadows are really nasty looking. - water tower looks out of place. - displacements are jaggy. use a bigger radius or smooth tool - Add more detail to the buildings such as props and so on - The main big building is just one huge block with a texture applied and stretched to fit on it. add more detail like balconies and so on. - The entrance looks weird, from the front, I don't think you would see a building with that kind of hallway to the front door? - sidewalk texture looks out of place. - Is that a train buried in snow? why is there a train there? (sorry if it isn't a train) - add utility poles for electricity and add ropes going between them for more detail. that's all I can see for now, just over all add more details and make things more logical how they would be in real life and it should be a pretty decent looking map, but for a first map it is okay, just need more complex brushwork and details and again logic and it would be a good map I think, from looks at-least, optimization may be a different story.
Actually really damn good for a first map
Give more criticism. It is a decent looking first map, I have seen many other much greater first maps but this isn't bad and much better than lots of other first maps, just don't make it sound like it is amazing because it isn't, not trying to be rude, because it is a decent looking first map but of course it does have its errors and glitches that can ruin a map.

Good job dude. Keep it up and I can see you going somewhere. I like it , but as for the map in general I'd say exactly what TH3_L33T said.
Yeah i need to learn to add rope, area portals, etc. But i know to use nodraw texture on the brushes that aren't visible to the player.
Nodraw isn't the only optimization there is, there is A LOT! more. Also add more detail to the top of the big building, add like power stuff and vents and stuff that go on top of the buildings and reach around going back into the building, make a fire escape that you can use to go to the top of the roof and look around from the top and so on, or even a ladder to get to the top in a well placed area. Antennas are good details to add to roofs.
Thanks guys, and TH3_L33T thanks for the help, I'll get working on that now. I also added you on steam, name is [ACE]Malicious

Oh man, it's not fullbright, not blocky, has some props, well placed, no random texturing, no random prop placing... It's excellent
