this is a map that i was working on for some quite time, and its not great or bad looking. i dont want to upload it yet and well this map is set in a horror setting.

Light sources.... and you really shouldn't try posting your fisrt map, but it's better than most firsts...

In the second picture is that suppose to be a door and button?
with a door rotating on the center?
This is not a beta, it's barely an alpha.
It's bland and boring, very little detail has been put in. Lights don't have sources, textures are poorly placed (garage door on a wall?), and there are no props or fine detail (the grate thing in the first image should really have a border of some kind).

Haha you got the right idea for a horror map. Just need to make everything 'on a more detailed scale' Even if it might seem unessential it could still be good. For instance. More pipes, barrels, catwalks or any other metal things you can fit in. Light models so you can see where the light is coming from. Realistic door (So it doesn't open from the middle, you can change the origin with the little blue circle in the centre of the entity in hammer)
Those steps could also be smaller and then maybe think about cutting pieces of them out to look old and possible adding some 'grittier' textures. Good examples are in city 17 of hl2.
