Can Someone help out with learning how to port maps from other games using hammer and such.. I'd really like to learn... and the reason i am asking is cause i wanna see if i could somehow learn how to port sanctuary from Borderlands 2 into gmod...
Source and Unreal (the core engine behinds borderlands) have vastly different map formats that cannot be ported directly. The only way you can do this in a way that doesn't look like trash or kills performance is to rebuild it in source. You can rip the models from Borderlands and use those as decoration, but the majority of the Source map will have to be rebuilt using the tools available for Source.
