I thought I would release this map in its beta stage so people get the idea of what I’m trying to achieve. I would like suggestion to what buildings and other stuff could be added to the map for the final version. Enjoy and play nice. WARNING: Map takes up full grid. May lag if you look towards the centre of the map from a long distance. [B]There is a very, very hard easter egg in this map. Good luck solving it.[/B] All files included. Looks bit plain at the moment, maybe add a large central building, a tower of some sort.. And maybe an airport for plane construction?

Not that late (NSW) :D Anyway, as mentioned already the map looks sort of "plain", but I suppose deserts are like that in reality. To improve it you could try adding things like ruins and bunkers, other than that it looks good!
Some textures are really badly stretched.

Should probably make the hills a bit more subtle, both for playability and lighting concerns. Like this, for instance (terrible shot): [img]http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l316/lankist/Newdisplacements.jpg[/img] While retaining the same depth, the hills are much more gradual and subtle, creating some nice lighting and allowing players to traverse the area like a dune rather than a mountain, if that makes sense. Think of it more like waves in an ocean rather than hills on a mountain. This also makes it easier to place buildings and structures.
[b]Displacements:[/b] Deserts sanddunes moves around alot, wich makes them very smooth. I think you should decrease the amount of dunes, and smooth up the displacements. [img]http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6354/displacementsma6.jpg[/img] [b]Ground Texture:[/b] The ground texture looks very bleak, but it could be the light. Try to make a blendtexture with both sharp and smooth textures. This will make it non-repetive and still look sharp and nice. [img]http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/6250/groundtexturehm1.jpg[/img] [b]Skybox Texture:[/b] I think the one you have right now makes the map look dark and not as nice as it could look. The reminds me of Tribes: Starsiege a lot. Now i want to play that game now! Good work however on the desert, texturing needs work.
I agree with Hellsteen. It looks like a map out of the game "Army men" actually.. You could have done much better :/

The skybox would look better with the Militia skybox in my opinion, since the current one looks like a storm is rolling in ( and conflicts with the lighting to me ). The cliff-wall texture also looks a bit stretched and the dunes are lumpy. Other than those, this looks excellent. Nice job.
Make me some caves. :3: This would be awesome if you added some underground areas to the sides of mountains.

I think that you should smooth out the transition from the main desert area and the land out side of the playable area. Make it look natural.

VERY cool.. I would like some half "sunk" desert ruins... like bunkers. Maybe you could place a raised highway that has crumbled in some parts. Be hard to blend that with the skybox... but take a look at the fantastic skybox in atomic. it can be done. I'd even just be happy with those additions... I'd like it rather bare. and yes, NPC nodes are a must. and skynodes...

Great map. i like the idea alot, i've being using it alot on my server for deathmatching and fortwars. Maybe if you could add an mountain complex? like a helicopter pad on the side of a cliff and a door going into the cliff. That would be cool
Ideas: Add quicksand add some secret tunnels you have to dig to add some building areas add a night and day fuction the works with life support like normal day is hot normal night is cold (you can do this with timers and must have a skybox for this... HOW TO DO(not realy just requirements) Timer,lights,darker skybox texture for sky) add a 3d skybox add somthing to make it unique make this a stranded map its a good idea make if you dig far enough down you start getting to water make it so you can dig (breakable function...) make some new entites for it for more fun... Thing i can do for you if you want my help: Modify stranded gamemode to suit this harsh invernment...
