Hey I'm pretty new to mapping. I was looking at some youtube videos on making a elevator. I was able to duplicate the video twice but the third time it turned 90 degrees in the game. In the editor its still upright.
Also, from another youtube video I learned how to make water rise, however I cannot duplicate it.
I am still new to Hammer so I don't know how I would show you my map. Please leave a comment and I will put up my map/code ASAP
Thanks,
Boom
Would you mind posting these said tutorials? It would help us understand what you are trying to achieve and by what means.
Use func_water_analog tied to a func_movelinear to make water rise and fall at will.
For your elevator, if you're using a model, be sure your angles are set correctly.

what entity is that for the elevator? can't see shit.
anyway, if it's what i think it is there should be a flag (under the flags tab) called "Fixed orientation" tick that.
Ok I fixed the Elevator, it was a minor mistake I over looked. However, for the water I want a tiny cube in the far right, where when a player hits a button the water overflows and drowns him. Can that be done?

Create 3 entities:
A func_button
A func_movelinear
A func_water_analog
1. Parent the func_water_analog to the func_movelinear
2. Go to the outputs tab on the func_button to toggle the func_movelinear
Well first off there isnt a trigger option for the movelinear thing. I made it to open however when I hit the button the water shifts left.

What are you on about? There are options to trigger a func_movelinear.
Don't use those videos tutorials....ever.
You need to change the move direction of the entity to "up" or it will move on it's default setting, which is left.
Don't ever use 3kliks tutorials, he sucks nut, if you want a decent elevator tutorial, may I suggest mine?
