How can I remove the black texture in an overlay, or is it invisible in-game?

Size the overlay down to 56 by 112 units.
The whole texture gets resized and black stays

You need to adjust the u and v tiling keyvalues too. The higher the number the more the texture tiles on that axis. So something like .90 would cut off 10% of 64 on the u or v axis

I don't think this works, mine is perpetually off but the overlay still scales.
why don't you just cut out the door instead, it will have the appropriate material when you shoot
