• Problem Fixed! Full-Bright Maps

As I have noticed with some of my friends and on my other computers while you are working through a map and then test play it the lighting in the map will suddenly be full bright. It will cause VRAD to compile your map very quickly. If you have had any of this it is because of a new problem (Don't know how long this has been out...). Basically what this glitch does is take all of your textures light map scales and changes them to 17 (Isn't a power of 2.) So all you have to do is change all your textures back to a power of 2 (1,2,4,8,16) The map should run fine now. Just thought I would help others with the same problem. :D Thanks, Ugrd
They don't have to be a power of 2.
They don't have to be a power of 2.
bull ..... shit .... (tried it) .... never mind you can....
I don't see the point in making a whole thread on this. Also, don't sign your post, it's not an email. [editline]4th January 2011[/editline] Oh, and yes, what Firegod said. What actually causes the glitch beats me though.
lightmap scale of 17 won't cause your map to look fullbright though.
I'm back after a month and the first post I see is retarded, awesome, but yeah this is no glitch/problem, it's called not putting lights in. Oh yeah, fuck the underground competition as well, sorry sweetswifter and whoever else the fuck I was doing it with.
^^lol wb
Welcome back sphinxa :D

I thought he may have made a good map, wait....impossible.

Sorry Melinda I didn't notice, thanks :3: Mine and Hawx's bromance is true though, but it is good to be back, after a whole fucking month.
Nice job derailing the thread guys.
ty sphinxa, you do know i was teasing right? Anyways Re-railing thread in 3, 2, 1. ok fullbright issues, make sure u have mat_fullbright set to 0 in gmod console compile the map with the environment setup for your skybox compile with vbsp, vvis and vrad, it dosen't have to be normal it can be fast and see if you have shadows, if not compile in normal and retest
I still think it's just a simple thing like these guys didn't put any lights in their map.
could very well be that too... i did that at first but the map was dark not full brighted
Nice job derailing the thread guys.
There isn't anythin to derail it's just stupid post at this moment. I wish OP would come back and see how stupid of an Idea that is though.
I've had this sort of similar issue even with lights in the map, but it had to do with the cubemaps not properly applying rather than lightmaps. Lightmaps causing it is too far-fetched.
There isn't anythin to derail it's just stupid post at this moment. I wish OP would come back and see how stupid of an Idea that is though.
i think it was my fault but i re railed it before it got out of hand..
Nice job derailing the thread guys.
I've seen bigger derails. Potters Bar for example.
i did it, i'm guilty i started the derailing, i'm a freaking criminal! happy now? lets get back on topic, christ.
There isn't anything to get back on topic. OP didn't do it right, and thread ended the first reply.
oh then why are we still here? oh i know this one, making the thread fatter? lol
No, it's well known around here that I am the best de-railer, "The Bivium Part 1" thread for example...
it keeps going, like that portal gun on garrysmod.org that stays on the main page, we all know its broke but its still there.
To keep it going, this is my nr 666 reply. I feel so evil right now. While i'm at it: Let this thread die a slow and painful death.. Rawr.
