Well it's about time I show one of my maps here again, so I present to you, for your consideration, gm_CalamityCoast for Garry's mod 13.
(I suppose this is more of a WIP thread now as I've decided to take suggestions and such, so I've updated it accordingly)
This map is all about fun, (serious fun) I'm talking building and destroying, and as evidence to my claim, the bridge which you can clearly see in the first picture, is completely physically simulated, comprised of func_physboxes, and held together with phys_constraints, each and every piece. That means the bridge can sag, bend, and collapse just like a real bridge, without all that floating nonsense that many other physics based maps have. Observe:

Here we see the bridge intact, and might I add it's a sexy ass bridge.

Removal of one of the supports and a section of the bridge shows the remaining road sagging.

Some more destruction, in this shot the walkways can be seen, which can be accessed via ladder on either side of the bridge.

The bridge sagging when it's middle support is pushed away.

See-saw puzzle anyone?

I put a lot of time and effort into making sure the bridge was as well built as possible, but there is much more than just intentionally shoddy architecture to see on the map, it was made to have plenty of build space, and a nice open atmosphere to boot, and because the bridge is pretty well optimized, lag isn't an issue, even on my Toshiba Satellite (which happens to be the worst model of Toshiba Satellite.) Here are some more screenshots to show some of the areas of the map that you can explore, leaving mostly open spaces with air vehicles in mind.

Here we see the toll booth, a structure that can be toppled just as the bridge can. (Now with a different texture for it's supports)

Calamity Coast is as big as can be, spread out in all directions, the skybox is high enough to house the empire state building, probably. Now with airstrip and mountain at no extra cost!

That button with the green glow can be used to respawn the bridge and toll booth without having to clean up the map entirely.

Here you can see the beginnings of an airstrip as well as most of the grassy build area.

A view of the mountain, which might be an interesting place to put a house..

It seems that linking directly to the steam workshop doesn't work, so to download the map, (if you're not in game) simply open up your steam UI, go to community, select workshop, find Garry's mod, and search for gm_CalamityCoast there, if it's not on the front page :P
If you would like to download the .bsp directly, so you can use it on Gmod12, use this dropbox link here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/110440606/gm_CalamityCoast.bsp
If you're in Garry's mod, go to addons, and look under maps, you should be able to find it after a couple of pages.

You will need Counter Strike: Source mounted to get all the materials (which includes the skybox)
If you like this map, be sure to check out my other maps on the workshop as well! I enjoy hearing feedback and I always respond to comments, positive or negative, feel free to use this map on your server or for whatever sick and/or twisted things you can think of, just remember to give credit where credit is due!
This map is kinda too empty, you might need to add more details to the map.
Nice solid build map. Surround it with cliffs or something for the next version though!
It's a nice idea, but you need to work on your tiling textures, the truss textures look odd (holes in the metal, but no metal visiable through them, and the lighting looks fullbright. You can use a shallower angle and still have a bright environment.
Definitely useful feedback so far, thank you.
I really like the displacements on the inner-side of the canal/dam.
Oh wow, that bridge is great. Good to see you get everything to work with that. I would have to say though that your cliff texture should be replaced with one that tiles a lot less, or you should at least increase the texture scale to reduce it. Any other criticism I have has already been said, like more angled lighting, more detail, and a 3D skybox. For a start this is really good, and the next version will surely be a much better.
I will work on a few little updates to the map here and there, that's the glory of the steam workshop I suppose.
Doing another compile
Stuff added
-Beaches
-Fences around the ramps that lead down into the canal thing
-Mountain
-Airstrip
-Playing with the environmental lighting
-Changing some of the displacement textures around
Yay you fixed the lighting! I'd be happy to make some awesome terrain for you, plus a 3D skybox!
Here's an idea, if the skybox is as high as the limit goes in Hammer: How about an airship? Or some sortof platform where planes and spaceships can take off on a runway floating high up in the air, sortof something like Doctor Who's airship "Valiant"
[img_thumb]http://images.wikia.com/tardis/images/d/df/Valiant.png[/img_thumb]
Airship is a neat idea, I'll definitely think about that one, and as for a 3D skybox, any help would be appreciated!
*edit* Ok, i'm not used to doing all this forum editing stuff, but the map has been updated and has a couple more things worth checking out, I am totally inspired to continue with it now..
I'd be willing to help with the 3D skybox, by either tutorial, or doing it myself :P

I'm not sure about making skyboxes, this map will be especially difficult because there are so many different elevations and such, im not sure if im up to handing over the vmf, because then i have to wait between revisions and stuff, maybe a tuturial would be in order, or perhaps you could help me personally? (via steam)
I apologize if this sounds stupid, but can you upload a version for GM12 somewhere (assuming it wroks on that)? GM13 Beta runs like shit for me.

When I get the chance I will upload it to Garrysmod.org and post the link here, though, you might be able to get the map from the maps folder of gmod13 if I'm correct (then again it could be compressed somewhere)

I remember attempting to do that with another mod, but it was packed in a .gma file. I assume its the same case with this.
Just so you know, the respawn button doesn't respawn the little radio tower on the other side.
Also, I have been playing this map all day, and I loooooooooove it so far.
I'd be willing to donate a house VMF for that mountain if you'd like.
If someone would be so kind to post a download link to mediafire or something, I would be extremly grateful. Your link it never shows up in my GMOD.
Download link comes up with an error.
Ok I will see what I can do about the download link, though it's pretty much a formality, it's on the steam workshop and pretty easy to find.

Please, no matter your opinions on the workshop, provide an option for those who can't or don't wish to use it.
I want to play this
The textures are repetitive...
I have been putting off making a non workshop upload link as I've been a little busy, I also didn't think it was needed because I will eventually release a v2 with several additions and improvements but I will go ahead and put it up sometime today, as for textures being repetetive, I feel that bit of criticism isn't very helpful to me seeing as it is not specific and provides no suggestions/solutions.
*Edit* I added a download link for the map.
