I've been attempting to make a map for a multiplayer Garry's Mod gamemode that has huge amounts of snow and view-obscuring fog for players who are outside. I have several issues though... 1. Lots of snow calls for lots of lag. Can I make the particle effects follow players like in Hard Rain, or is that L4D specific? I don't want to use a func_precipitation because, to be frank, those particles look ugly and unrealistic. 2. Fog! Is there any way to toggle per-player fog distances depending on where in the map they are? I want the inside to be clear and the outdoor areas to be extremely vision-limiting. 3. Water dripping off things. This can be done by a brus with a refract texture, correct? 4. Wet-looking floors. This is a texture setting also I'm sure, not sure what I'll need though. Also, there will be buildings. Snow can't go through a roof or something, of course =/ EDIT: Maybe a bit like this, but over a map rather than in just a title screen. You'd be better off making your own particles. Left 4 Dead 2 is a good place to look for examples, if you view their particles in the particle editor, that is.
