• Source Mod Hammer Missing Files

I have a source mod built with the 2007 release, and I want to compile some maps for it. I compiled my project as "release" so the maps can compile and the game could run it, but while in hammer, none of my coded npcs or weapons can be placed! I know they work, because I can spawn them through the console, but apparently hammer doesn't know they are there. Is there a .cpp or .h file that controls what hammer sees? Or is my configuration for hammer in need of adjusting?

Thank you, I didn't even know hammer used a special format. It shouldn't surprise me though, valve uses a LOT of formats for their game engine. I'll be sure to try to make the .fgd when I get back later. If I need some more help I'll post back here.
