I like to start creating a map using elements a few elements of Portal 2, but I don't know how I will do that, since Portal 2 uses a updated engine, so I'm not expecting that grabbing a few materials and models and throwing it in my Episode 2 folder will make them pop up in the material browser and make them use able.
So, how could I use the models and materials in a normal Half Life 2 (EP2) map? My idea is to recreate the Relaxation Chamber in the beginning of the game, and making everything match as much as possible.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Well you can Create the map in portal 2 and compile it in the source game of your choice, I was able to create a portal 2 map and get it working in Garry's Mod 13.
But when you do this try to avoid using props_static, they really will not show up when running the map.
You should probably extract Portal 2 content in this case.
Engines isn't much of a deal while the content is. The content can work in both the same way.
It's not that easy, though. Portal 2 uses newer VTF and model formats than the Orange box games. You'd have to recompile the models and convert the textures to VTF 7.4.
I'm pretty sure when it comes to the models, you can just alter the header.

You can use VTFVer or VTFEdit for this. Some materials in Portal 2 still use version 7.4.
